Frostcrag Reborn Remastered Exploratory Discussion

Just what the title says.  I've received a number of requests to pull this off.  I released an updated version of Frostcrag Reborn last year.  It was well received for a 20 year old game.  I've now received numerous requests and DM's asking me if I would port my mod.  I find myself in a bind.  I'm currently under commitments that leave me with little time to pull this off.  That commitment could last much of the year. 

However, I would love to see this happen.  I'm gauging whether this would have support in the community, and a relative demand.  I know I would love it, but I also know from looking at the state of modding for the Remaster that this could be a monumental task for just one person, especially one with very little time right now...  I'm reaching out to the community to see if a small team could be built from at least relatively experienced modders, who would be willing to help.  I already have one potentially willing to help with new Game Assets, which is huge, but more may be needed.  Those familiar with the CS and those familiar with Unreal modding or willing to learn are going to be needed I think.

  At this point it may not be possible for a full port, so a phased system of releases would be implemented as modding tools and methods become available.  The scope of the project as I see it would be the following:

Phase 1:  Port the main sections of the tower and implement the main improvements.   New sections, new eye-candy, new towers etc.

Phase 2: Port the First Quest line, with improvements to gameplay and areas etc to be in line with modern standards.  Nothing crazy, more cutting and refinement than additions. 

Phase 3:  Port the Avalon Quest and improvements to the tower it provides.  Refine the questline, streamline and improve areas, add variety where necessary, but keep the scope away from creeping into bloat.  


This Phased release is much how I built the original to begin with, revising as I went and gaining an audience as I went.  So I know this method will work well, but this can change if circumstances permit.  But something like this is probably necessary in order to implement this over time for a Mod the size of Frostcrag Reborn or any mod of similar size.

I am extremely easy to work with, and have led a small team creating a game demo in the past.  I do have a specific core vision I will keep to, but some of the side quests, details, etc. are definitely open for some revision if you want to help contribute and you think you have the skills to help. 

 The team will be kept small-ish to avoid feature creep, communication bloat, and all the other unwieldy things that occur with large teams.  So if you want to help, or know someone who might, now is the time to get on board.  I think this already has a big demand built in and some fresh ideas and new blood could make it an extremely welcome contribution to this new version of the Game.  Thanks!
