Hey guys,

I've had zero issues with mods. Everything has been fricking dandy up until tonight, when I added a few minor mods and updated some, and I got a Fatal Error. Im not even sure it was the mods anyway, I disabled all of them, tried again and still got a FE. I did a verify and repair on Game Pass that did absolutely nothing, and still got an FE. I'm stuck, and I can usually troubleshoot this stuff myself, but I couldn't even find a consistent fix. It did spit out some .dmp files if that helps? Don't know how to read them, though. Any help would be appreciated.

edit: forgot to mention, this is on startup before any intro screens.

Ok, I managed to make the game recompile shaders on Game Pass. Here is what I did: It's a combination of steps suggested by other users plus and idea that came to mind based on something that a user mentioned in other post.

So here it goes:

Start the game, even if it runs like crap, then exit normally (This is important, so your saves are updated into the cloud)

Delete the "C:\Users\**(your user name)**\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered" folder

Delete the oblivion.ini file in "\XboxGames\The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData"

delete the cache files: located (as another user mentioned in this very threat:

For NVIDIA Gpus, its under %AppData%\Local\NVIDIA\DXCache.

For AMD, %AppData%\Local\AMD\DxcCache

5. In Windows, go to "add or remove programs" look for oblivion remaster. Click on it and select "advance options" scroll a bit down in the menu that opens and press "reset"

NOW HERE COMES THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP THAT MADE THIS WORK FOR ME:

6. With game pass open, make sure that Offline Plays is activated in your Xbox app and DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET (I umpluged the cable from my PC to do this) and start the game. The game will recompile shaders

7. When the game is done recompiling shaders, exit the game, close xbox app, RESTORE INTERNET CONNECTION, start the xbox app again, start oblivion andwhen the game ask you which savegames to use, cloud or local, select CLOUD.

Apparently, on game pass the information regarding if the game had it's shaders compiled or not also goes into the cloud. this is a TERRIBLE oversight by Bethesda. I hope they will correct it in the future.

Let me know if this worked for you. It did for me.

Edit: I'm really glad that this is working gor so many people. 🙂 needless.to say, but copypaste it in any other post in which this issue comes up.
