EzraNaamah Posted May 18 Posted May 18 Historically, generals and soldiers have defected to the other side when the war was going bad for them or maybe due to ideological reasons. If we apply this to New Vegas where there is not a lot of order or rule of law in the wasteland, I think many opportunists of tons of different factions would realistically switch sides, so you may see Followers, Khans, Boomers in legion, NCR, or Vegas uniforms supporting whichever faction looks like they are going to win. This would happen regardless of what the leaders of the faction want and what the people in the faction actually think. Especially in the wasteland it would be relatively easy to simply paint your Khan/Legion/NCR armor the color of the faction you want to support and head over to them to join. I can already imagine some legionaries with their NCR armor dyed red with the legion flag as a cape, or NCR-aligned legionaries with their armor dyed beige to signify allegiance to the NCR. This also means the NCR can access healing poultices and spears to throw. This also means that the courier of an independent Vegas (Or Mr. House) could have a Frankenstein army of various factions with their armor dyed black and maroon, or maybe they are non-aligned and operate completely independently like the NCR deserters. It doesn't even need to be a major faction really, if the Khans, Boomers, or Followers get powerful enough they might encourage a few NCR or Legion soldiers to switch over to their faction. With a mod like Claim The Mojave this might actually make a lot of sense.
