Community Manager Demorphic Posted May 29 Community Manager Posted May 29 Distinct game artwork for the most popular games on the site? You've been asking us for it, and it's happening. You will start to see the rollout of updated game artwork today. This includes: Game tiles Backgrounds Thumbnails Some of these artwork changes will feel very new for many of you, particularly the game tiles. Where possible, we've used official artwork from the game developer, to respect how they want their games to be represented, and stay consistent with how they look on other platforms. So far, we’ve added artwork for 120 of the largest games across the site, with more to come. Is your favourite game missing? Please let us know and we’ll look into updating it. The plan will be to steadily roll out artwork for every game on the site. 1
zloybelka Posted May 29 Posted May 29 What was wrong with the old icons for Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2 in .pl-1?? Why did you use a greyscale launcher/config icon for DAO when the .exe icon is blue on yellow and would be more noticeable in your all-black menubar? The old red and white is still immensely better and contrasts nicely with the menu and the rest of the page (helped accessibility too: was easier to notice at a glance to know where to move your mouse to change the game). Why did you have to go and change the Hawke on dragon background to just dragon background for DA2 too, ugh. Now to backgrounds on those two: you tried real hard to make them as much transparent and invisible on your new background as possible and you succeeded.
Community Manager Demorphic Posted May 29 Author Community Manager Posted May 29 Dragon Age Origins is using the same artwork as Steam, which is publisher submitted. Dragon Age 2 is also using the original Steam assets. I've updated the thumbnail image for origins and the background image for DA2. The backgrounds are literally that, not a focus, but adding visual context to the game pages. They're not meant to stand out too much.
jaeenox Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I know it's a silly thing to complain about, but we are all on edge with all these changes, even though the new Fallout 4 icon is the "official" one from the Steam store page, maybe change back to your power armor helmet. It is much cooler and fits the color scheme of the all black website much better than the new one. It sticks out like the proverbial sore thumb:)
Community Manager Demorphic Posted May 29 Author Community Manager Posted May 29 It does stand out, I agree, but this is the tile image that Bethesda chose to use across a wide variety of platforms, including Steam.
Gantz79 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Hi, I don't know if this is the right place but since we are talking about respecting official artwork from the game developer, I wanted to comment that the game Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions that is here since 2022 always had a wrong image representing it. CURRENT IMAGE Spoiler OFFICIAL IMAGE OF THE GAME Spoiler

There's a takedown forum because of what the developer wants. Mods get taken down on the regular for breaking the terms of service that explain what the developer wants. And since a lot of mods exist in a grey area, having a developer be annoyed at Nexus Mods could end up with entire sections of the site shut down for not paying attention to what the developer wants.
