Itchytreasuresack Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Hello, I would like to suggest to the nexus some specific improvements for modders who make lots of variations of the same mod, like me, the "problem" is that i have to copy paste descriptions lots of times when making optional files for mods it gets very time consuming. My first suggestion: Would be that you would perhaps let us do like a quick copy of a mod file i have just posted. Example: I would click the file i have just posted under "edit existing files" and use the dropdown list called "manage" to select a new option called "copy description" And this would copy the description the name the version everything, and than the user would delete what he wants to disregard, so we could make several versions of mods without having to type over and over again the same thing or copy paste by hand on every variation of the file/mod. the file itself would not be copied, just the description to make it easier to make a similar description, without having to copy paste stuff the hard way. I just realised after writing all this, that you actually have a similar function already in place, the "upload a new version" of the same file option, does exactly this, only it checks a tickbox that says "This is a new version of an existing file (optional)" that i can untick. So since you already have this option you could do a little modification(pun intended) of that option to say "copy description" and just not tick the box that says "This is a new version of an existing file (optional)", and add it as a new button. I will be honest i did not notice that option, so after over 60 copy pasting arounds i never thought i could do that. My secondĀ suggestion: Is to, do a hard copy of a mod, when making alternative versions that you are posting, that are pretty much the same mod but it has some fundamental diference, we could completely copy a previous mod, and it would go to unlisted/unpublished mod, and we could edit the details on it. again, no need to also add the files just the descriptions and images for example to cut the workload in half. otherwise we have to resort to the old copy pasting around which is not that bad, but this would make it a bit easier and less time consuming. Final thoughts: I know this is not that much of a difference, but from experience, it sure would help with all the copy pasting, I believe the best thing is to make a mod full of variations(if possible) so people can pick what they like best right from the start, and this makes it so i bore myself to death while trying to upload all these different files. I am very grateful for your website, it always makes me happy to get some mods going after i finish a game. Sorry this text is long. Cheers!
