Notlonewolf6 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Hello, I have been looking for a good Minutemen quest mod for a while and have yet to find one, then I came across this video See, this right here is something I think would be amazing if it was turned into an actual quest mod, and alongside that it would also have some more choices like for example handing over the Railroad to the BoS and an SS2 HQ system for the Castle and more. I can elaborate if anyone is interested.
fraquar Posted June 15 Posted June 15 (edited) I'm trying to understand why everyone wants to make the Minutemen into their own army? They were always citizen soldiers - they showed up with what they had. Non-standard ammunition and rifle? Check. No rifle, just a pitchfork and a hay bale hook? Check - c'mon brother welcome. Clothes with patches holding it together? Check. Haven't bathed in 3 days? Check. Um, bruh, the pond is over yonder.... Minutemen were never part of a standing army. In Fallout they aren't either - so why do people want to dress them up and make them look like Gunners? Edited June 15 by fraquar

In FO4 they're a volunteer militia made of farmers, settlers, and the occasional merchant. Their goal is to protect their friends and family, and to make their home safer. They have scrappy home-made gear and an improvised command structure that has failed multiple times over. Turning them into a fully fledged, high spec military force is hilariously off-concept.

Yes well this would involve the Minutemen getting better equipment and improving over time due to the influence of the Sole Survivor, plus all the new quests would definitely help make them more of a faction deserving of such equipment
fraquar Posted June 18 Posted June 18 I could understand a subset of the Minutemen being militarized - i.e. the residents of The Castle. After all that is literally what The Castle is all about - power projection with their artillery. That fortification shouldn't be defended with random hay-balers. 1
RJG3263827 Posted July 3 Posted July 3 I'll add my 1.5 cents to this... If you're playing Nate... The Minutemen will be a military fighting force within time. A veteran can whip up citizen militia into a real fighting force within 6-8 weeks (I hear it enough working for the USDoVA. If you're playing Nora, they'll be exactly what they are, but more focused on fighting for the underdog, but not exactly subject to getting better training/gear. If you're playing MY Nate/Nora, the're wearing Tumba's armor, and they become an elite fighting force by two people who were either a Military Combat Veteran, or a Government Covert Operative! 1

Personally i prefer a sort of middle man where the minute men start of as a militia and turns into a semi militarized force to protect the people that at some point forms a government i think that's why i like SS2 alot. Now for the og poster i don't think there really are any as i'm pretty sure most people don't like the minutemen from a gameplay standpoint as they are kinda the faction the gets dragged in the mud alot (that and the Railroad) while i like Preston he is a stale man indeed and the minutemen are very cut n dry faction but i like them so there might be one you are just gonna have hard time finding it. 1
