chimpoforevah Posted June 18 Posted June 18 I don't like the recent change to the "Ignore" feature. Ignoring a mod author now hides everything they do, which isn't helpful for how I use the site. I used to block authors because I wasn't interested in the types of mods they created. It helped filter out content I didn’t want to see, especially since your filtering system isn’t as precise as I need it to be. Please bring back the option to block specific mods without completely hiding everything from the author. The current approach is too extreme. 5 2
Qrsr Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Due to one of the latest changes, the users ignored are ignored globally meaning: user posts are ignored aswell if some users are flagged ignored because of images or else but not due to their comments its very bad implementation overall. Could you specify what users want to see blocked when blocking a users? Like User content User images/media User mods etc. Thanks.
Community Manager Pickysaurus Posted June 19 Community Manager Posted June 19 While this feature was in development, I did bring up this use case. As we've changed the intent of using the feature from "hide mods from search" to "hide everything for the user". Is there an example of where you've found it blocking the content you didn't want it to block, or is it just the potential for it to be a problem? We'll see if others upvote this post to support your view; however, part of this work is to comply with changes in UK legislation, so it may remain in its current form for a while.
Qrsr Posted June 23 Posted June 23 Dont get me wrong, but that latest change is just totally dumb execution. Why? The original "Blocking" feature was supposed to block mods, images, media from the user of interest. Thats why people, me included used to block certain users from poping up on the main page NOT on the comment section, and else. Now you extended it making it obsolete due to your global extension like comments, bug reports, notifications ... Good lord WHY DID YOU DO THIS??? Do you even use your own platform at this point? Im curious why there are only two people complaining as of now. Please make it optional, its just so cumbersome like it is now. Its not an improvement. 1
JimboUK Posted June 24 Posted June 24 I've blocked many users over the years for spamming the imageshare with garbage and I know I'm not the only one who's done it, having to unblock these people just to see their posts isn't ideal. 1 2
AlienSlof Posted June 24 Posted June 24 I do wish you guys would stop 'fixing' things that aren't broken! I'd like to see options to block all, or just individual mods/media/posts as needed, especially for authors who make a mixture of mods, some more to my taste than others. As a modder who makes a mixture of things, I ask for this. A blanket block serves no one. 2 1

I know we have a tag for that, and it should be enough to just block that tag, but many mods are not tagged correctly. So I've blocked authors who don't tag their mods properly. Another example is translations. Again, this could be solved with a tag, but since tagging is not compulsory and is therefore patchy, a lot of things slip through. Then the only option is to block the author. There are also other things that I prefer not to see, some are simply not to my taste. It is not any form of judgement on the author's mods, it is only my own personal opinion. So for that reason we have this blocking feature. I agree that blocking comments and content in one swipe is too heavy-handed. Just because I am not interested in the kinds of mods that someone is making, it does not mean I don't want to talk to them at all! 1 4
