So, the story is very simple. It looks like a certain modder doesn't handle positive criticisms of it's mods on the comments section and blocked me from all his mods. This alone is a problem on it's own, because people get the impression that a mod is good while, in fact, people are being blocked and only positive comments are allowed.

Anyway, after being blocked i can not remove my endorsement of said mod. Can this be done?

I try contacting the modder directly but he refuses even to talk with me and exits the conversations.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think so. Sounds like you would need to be unblocked first if you want to remove the endorsement.

So if the mod author has blocked you - and if they do not want to remove the block - it seems there is nothing you can do.

The Nexus Mods Moderation Team cannot assist with these cases, so please do not message our staff to get unblocked.

So, it seems the blocking mechanism was poorly implemented, since one should be able to do this. Otherwise it's highly unfair. I obviously don't want to endorse anymore a mod whose author behaves like this.

I don't expect the moderation team to unblock me, but they absolutely are able to do this directly using some kind of BO or even at DB level.

I will wait to see if a moderator comes by and tells me what can be done.

I might be remembering wrong, but if you downloaded the mod, didn't endorse it and then get blocked by the author, Nexus will later show you an endorsement reminder and ask if you want to endorse the mod (even though you can't do that anymore since you were blocked).

It does seem a bit poorly implemented, yes.

I rely on endorsements to help distinguish between well-functioning mods and those with significant issues.

However, due to this unnecessary restrictions, there are cases where I’m unable to vote either way, whether because the mod has been hidden or because the author has blocked interaction.

Unfortunately, this undermines the usefulness of the endorsement system and makes the overall process less transparent.

This has been an issue for years now, so I don't expect the system to change.

Same thing happened to me. I complained about a patch mod that was pulling patches from a mod for a completely different game. The patches didn't apply if you didn't have that game. In fact it broke other mods. The author decided they didn't like my tone and blocked me. I wanted to retract my endorsement but Nexus moderators said no.

I once had a similar case, luckily you can toggle endorsement even if you've been blocked by the mod author. Just search for the mod (not the quick search) or go to the mod author's Mods list page and use the dropdown in the top right corner on the mod image. Although I don't see why it should behave differently on different pages.

Ahh, that's exactly what happened to me, the mod author got paranoid and overly defensive because of me and a few other people reporting bugs, then I kept getting reminders to endorse the mod, but wasn't even allowed to endorse it.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work when you are blocked. I removed the endorsement there and refreshed the page. The endorsement is still enabled (and also on the mod page). I guess that's only for show.

Edit: i mistakenly quoted Squirrel97, instead of cyan49. I was obviously replying to cyan49's suggestion.

Confirmed. Nexus needs to fix this, if they overhaul the endorsement system that would be welcome too.

Hopefully at least this trick still helps to stop reminders about mods you can't endorse.

Edit: So it's one annoying bug that can cause two different problems. I will link to a post on the Suggestion Board as a reminder to moderators.
