What is the purpose of "Official" tag?

If it must be a tag for certain games, users shouldn't be able to vote on it. Which of these are "Official"?

I think it was added when CDPR developers put the official mod tools for Witcher 3 on the site. Obviously anyone can use the tag so it's really lost all meaning at this point
