Sirandar888 Posted July 26 Posted July 26 The cyberpunk 2.3 update was released on July 17th, and now it's the 26th and things are finally getting relatively close to where 2.3 can be called a viable modded game platform. Today Cosmopolitan cyberpunk mod got updated for 2.3 so that's a sign that we are getting there, but we're not nearly there yet because there's still lots of mods that are in a broken State. I laugh when developer apologists say that'll only be one or two days before the modded community can recover from an update. Generally it's about a month. With my combination of mods, cyberpunk 2.3 is pretty much where I wanted to be, except my game crashes every time I try to get into a vehicle, and I need to waste more time. Trying to figure out which non-updated or semi-updated mod is the culprit for this crash. And note, sometimes it takes even seasoned modders two or three attempts to get a mod working after a developer patch. This is in no way critical of the modders themselves because they have lives and they're unpaid for the most part and they do the best they can .... It's more of a criticism of a development company that simply ignores the presence of a huge modding community because they'd rather it doesn't even exist. What's currently crashing my game, when it was perfect before the 2.3 update? Who knows? And maybe an update will come tomorrow to fix the issue, or maybe not. The point I'm trying to make is that there are developer apologists out there saying that updates are no big deal for PC modding gamers in cyberpunk .. they obviously aren't actually modding cyberpunk or any other complex RPG game. The cyberpunk 2.3 update has already cost me about 4 hours of my life just fixing all the mods that I myself created for cyberpunk in terms of their location data. Creating beautiful homes is one of the areas of Skyrim modding that is still flourishing for the most part, but cyberpunk's updates is killing that community, because every time there's an update it completely and utterly breaks any mod that depends on the world data. The more complex the mod, the more horrific job it is fixing the damage from an update.
Sirandar888 Posted July 26 Author Posted July 26 Well cyberpunk update 2.3 took a big step towards being viable because Cosmopolitan Night City got updated. But to illustrate why updates are such a pain for people with a lot of mods, I thought I had into update 2.3 sorted all out and everything seemed to work perfectly, but then I went to enter a vehicle in the game immediately crashed. Eventually I narrowed it down to the Tempus Armory series of mods, specifically a shotgun. Why would a shotgun mod crash the entire game when you enter a vehicle in version 2.3, but not inversion 2.21? When you go on the Nexus page for this mod there is all sorts of people who have wasted all sorts of their time to discover this problem. This inevitably happens after every update, and it may take a month of playing to figure them all out and get rid of the mods that are breaking the game because of the update.
Digs60 Posted July 26 Posted July 26 My game can't launch currently on 2.3. I think I'll wait a bit and just play on the last patch (2.21) for now.

If your game is CTD with 2.3 .... you have a unsupported mod loaded up .... Maybe it is the First Person Mod .... but not that mod but the FP freelook camera which is version dependant. A LOT of mods are version dependant ... despite the lies the console mouthpieces spout. I feel for you as it is a bit of a cluster F@#$k with all these updates. I am an expert probably and EVERY update wastes at least 10 hours of my hands on time. But in the final analysis both mod devs and player who use mods are at the mercy of the game devs ... who couldn't care less about us. Update to 2.3 ... because you basically have no choice ...... it will work ... I have many many mods and all is well with 2.3 despite I didn't want nor need 2.3. yes I lost mods and got little in return ... This a a group theory dynamic ..... modders simply CANNOT support multiple versions of the base game. It is hard enough for them to support the current version ... and yes I am a mod dev ... but not on this game.
