Laspen
I was going through a pile of mods to give me a nice simple house in Winterhold. I found one I liked the best - called Solemn Refuge, at Steam Workshop - a nice little cottage that adds nothing extra and almost blends in the scenery... almost. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=90222128 It bugs me that it is made of stone and other wrecked houses around Winterhold are wooden. With a basement... It's hard to explain. Pavo's House would be a good example of what I'm looking for. With couple of weapon and shield racks and some storage apparatus. Also the location of Solemn Refuge is a bit off. I would like the first ruined house on the right when you first arrive Winterhold (across Jarl's Longhouse) to be repaired. (or maybe next to it) Note: I suck at making mods, otherwise I wouldn't be here asking for one. P.S. And since Winterhold doesn't have a housecarl... Just kidding. I am not requesting a housecarl (because of voice acting), but maybe a little hireable doggie wandering around would be nice. Though I would perfectly satisfied without one too. Laspen
Wow. Just wow. Everything could have hoped for.It looks really nice and blends in very well. However I noticed that my Winterhold became a lot brighter (And I'm not talking about the weather or mood). Now I don't know is it because I didn't start a new character, had "Solemn Refuge" installed (they are pretty close to each other, like 5 meters, across the "street"), the load order (this mod was last) or some other reason. Steward I spoke (the dunmer in Jarl's longhouse) had two "I'd like to buy a house" opinions. One that disappeared after being used (the one referred in mod's page, I'm guessing) and one that didn't. Interestingly they both had a different response. One that went away had "There's a house available right now" and the one that didn't vanish got "The house I mentioned earlier is still available", which then had "I take it" or "I'd like to think about it" opinions (the first one didn't have such choice, I think). After trying all opinions, he didn't take my septims nor did give me a key to the house. Had to use "unlock"-command to get in. I like that there's a housecarl using game's voice acting, though I can't say if she'll introduce herself as Lydia when first becoming a thane, since I already was a thane of Winterhold (or will she introduce herself at all), but I'm sure she'll get the job done. Can't wait to our adventures together. (Also now there is the whole series. A brunette, a redhead and now a blonde housecarl! My OCD thanks you :D) Followers can't seem to follow me inside (I have Eola and Bran). I'm not sure if it is good or bad. At least they can't be in the way blocking the stairs, which they tend to. House felt a little empty. Can't really say what's missing though. Mats? Tables? Chairs? Chests? Weapon racks? Shelves full of alchemy stuff? or books? Anyways. Great work. One of the best, if not the best Winterhold home in my opinion. Couldn't have done it better myself. Totally endorsing.
