Oblivion doesn't recognise my graphics card

Hey. I recently upgraded by geforce 8800gt to a 8800gts graphics card with oblivion installed. I managed to play it just fine but uninstalled it due to an over complication of mods (these were all before mod manager). I encountered the reinstall problems that people get, the problem being a damaged disc, so I cleared everything out of regedit etc and reinstalled it. now it crashes when I load and won't recognise my graphics card. suggestions?

What kind of crash? When? when you start Oblivion? when you load a game?

Did you manually clean the registry or use the uninstall on the disk?

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexus

Whenever you change any hardware.

Try renaming or deleting the oblivion.ini file (...\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini)

Oblivion will then redetect hardware. It will also, probably, not recognize your video card and set everything to medium. Just change the settings according to what you think your card will support (You can always change them later)

the crash occurs when I first start the game and its on the black studio advertisement screen eidos i think? i'm away from my game comp and can't check. I manually uninstalled regedit style as per the instructions and it still doesn't work. sorry for late reply. I'm still having issues though.
