GECK Help Please

I really need help with the GECK. I have the Geck installed on my computer and I am trying to use it to put a slightly overpowered weapon into the fallout new vegas game. There are just a couple of weapons that I would like to deal more damage than they normally do (to the point of 1 hit kill on some npc's). The problem I am having is that every time I place the new gun into the Game it seems like all of the npc's and enemies somehow gain an armor or health upgrade to the gun that I just put into the game so that even if the Gun is a little overpowered they don't get killed in 1 hit, rather it takes like 3 to 4 hits to kill them. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it is getting annoying.

This is the process that I use: 1) I start up the Geck, 2) I load the data i want (usually just fallout new vegas main master file), 3) I find the gun that I want to mod, 4) I click edit and give it a new id as well as tweak the base stats & damage to my liking, 5) I click ok & keep the Gun's new id, 6) i find a location in the render window and drag the weapon into the game and find a place for it (usually in goodsprings), 7) lastly i click on save (usually I click save 2 to 3 times), I exit the Geck. This is the process I do & i don't know what I'm doing wrong and I'm tired of the enemies getting more health  . Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong and help me, I would really appreciate it.

Well, new vegas doesn't really work as a set shots to kill. It's basically one giant math problem, if raider bob has 12 hp and you have a gun that does 5 damage, and bob's armor is 3 dt, and you shoot him in the head, then bob get's hit with 2 (possibly 5) damage. Bob can still take up to 2 more shots to the head. So unless it's a god weapon, or overpowered (like a 10m pistol having it's damage done raised to 60), you're aren't going to notice drastic effects. You did everything right, just you didn't kick it up high enough.

Also, try the mod realistic weapon damage, it multiplies the effects of all weapons (even from mods!) dynamically. It makes the game more realistic and challenging. So basically, if you got the drop on someone, you win, if they got the drop on you, they win. You can find it here: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35335/?
