Morrowland?

I've been searching for mods and exploring mod sites for a long time and while I do not claim to be an authority, I have never heard of this mod.

I would not expect too much of it.

I have to agree with stampede on that one. if it only had two people on the project it may be 2800 cells of generic forests and houses ( many with no interior cells) and very few npc's. Sea of destiny had this prob. It was big and it had a quest to it but alot of it was empty. I did find some really cool items in it, like a full set of japanese armor, and it looked like that was more then one varity in the mod. And there was a few underwater cities that were too tough for me to explore but looked interesting. So tread lightly when you find these really big mods.

I've just found the Morrowland mod myself, and also wonder whether it's (a) really as good as it says it is, and (b) likely to completely break the game, considering what damage even small mods can do if they're badly put together. I will probably download it anyway just to see what it's like (might as well use the bandwidth that I pay BT so much for!).

One comment I'd make, though... don't write off a mod just because only a few people (in this case only two) were involved in its creation, or because its creators are not known members of the modding community. I've downloaded some excellent mods written (apparently) by only one person and, conversely, some hopeless mods written by an army of people, some of them apparently quite well-known in the modding world.

Also, even though modesty should forbid ;), I will just mention that I once wrote a mod (well, more of an entire game conversion, really) for Civ2 that took me two years of designing and playtesting; I did everything from creating new maps, units, graphics and sounds to massively modifying the combat system and even restructuring the tech tree and (so far as the game allowed) the entire core functionality of the game. Although I say it myself, my Civ2 mod actually plays better than the original game in most respects and it genuinely was the work of only me. I am a complete unknown in the modding world and almost nobody will ever have heard of me or seen the mod, as I did it for myself and only shared it with people I already knew, but that didn't stop it being, though I say it myself, a pretty worthwhile effort and, as Civ2 mods go, one of the largest I have ever come across.

So, perhaps we shouldn't discount Morrowland solely on the grounds that it's the work of only two unknown, but perhaps very dedicated and talented people.

Cheers,

Nell

PS : If Morrowland turns out to be a total dud, pretend I never posted this!! :laugh2:

Fair enough, it is true that many of my favourite mods are solo projects, many of them however are only gaming effects and new objects.

If the mod does suck, I would be very interested in reading a follow up post by you.

Actually I have heard that the mod is quite good!

Its a shame that it never was completed, everywhere I have read about the mod, everyone says that its good.

The Creators of the mod took alot of critisism from people claiming that they where lying and that the whole project was fake, eventually they cancelled the mod and released a beta. The beta seems to be good, but imagine if the had finnished the mod, whoah! :D
