Character Importing/Exporting

This would be an excellent feature in Oblivion. I'm not talking about importing morrowind characters. I mean making an easy way to clean a character for playing in a new plugin. Let's say you want to play a plugin that suggests having a character of lvl 25+.

Okay, so you want to use your character that you've spent a month building up - doing the main quest and a tonne of side quests. You have awesome stats, etc. But you use other plugins to get him there. You've seen things not meant for mortal eyes and done things that should not be spoken of to your mother. And now you want to use this character in a plugin that has huge conflicts with the plugin set you already have.

Normally you'd have to strip yourself of the things you shouldn't have and hide in a place where your mother won't open the door and catch you. Then you save, unload the plugins that conflict, (probably open up and save without the plugin you want to use to make sure you haven't already borked), then load the new plugin and save. If everything is cosher, you can come out of the closet and explore this new world. However, what if it were a total conversion? There would be closet safe enough your indiscretions.

So how about being able to export your character data to a file, which contains information on your vitals, your appearance, and refers to what equipment you have. When imported into a game, if anything is missing (equipment that doesn't exist now that a plugin is disabled), it lists it all in a dialogue box - at which point if you choose to continue, it just removes all those items from your inventory. The game then plops you at the first point you're able to save (just after the character generation sequence - which may or may not be the same as the original game).

With a quick trip to the main menu, you can avoid the hassle of having to clean your savegame the old fashioned way, and can always use your favourite character in any new plugin or TC mod.

What do you think?

I always wanted a feature similiar to this in Morrowind. After playing through the whole game, I wanted to start from scratch with the character that I had built up. (You could do it in Baldurs Gate)

However, as this was not possible, I would write down all my characters stats, start a new game and use the console to recreate my beloved character.

However, I doubt we will see your idea in Oblivion.
