seloje
Every time I start up Skyrim, it crashes as soon as the Bethesda logo appears. Since I installed several mods, I used BOSS(for the first time) to organize my load order BEFORE this started happening. I believe it did more harm than good. My load order: http://i.imgur.com/ls44G33.pngThe current load order shown was me attempting to organize the load order the way I had it before. Do I have too many mods? Are some incompatible? I heard something about Skyrim not having enough "memory" to be able to load tons of mods. Can I get any help? I'm new to modding, and have spent more time looking at mods and reading about them than actually playing the game. Skateboards
My gods. It's a miracle you even lasted that long without running BOSS.Anyway, rather simple solution.Download and run TES5Edit.It will open, and you will be prompted to edit your load order. Don't do that, just hit okay with out editing anything. It will fail to open, and you'll get an error message. The error message will be something along the lines of "Failed to load <insert .esp here>, <insert .esp your load order is dependant on here> is missing."From here if you have two options.Option 1 (the recommended way)Search your load order for the <insert .esp your load order is dependant on here>, it's easiest to just run BOSS and search for it with Ctrl+F on the web page it opens. It will be below <insert .esp that failed to load here>.If you find the .esp, simply drag it above the esp that failed to load. For any esps you don't find in your load order, follow Option 2's instructions.Example of a bad load order that will crash.Shlongs Of Skyrim - Super Sexy Ralof Addon.espShlongs Of Skyrim.esp Reveal hidden contents Yes, I did have to use the dick physics mod as an example. Let me have my fun. This is because the addon is trying to load the master file, but because the addon is being loaded first, you're crashing.Simply drag the master file above the addon and your crashes will be fixed. You MUST rerun TES5Edit and repeat that process until TES5Edit successfully finishes loading, at which point you can close the program and play Skyrim without CTDing immediately. Now, on to Option 2:Simply run TES5Edit, wait until it failes to load, find the esp it was trying to load in your load order, and deactivate it. Repeat until TES5Edit loads. This is only recommended if Option 1 doesn't apply to the .esp. Don't be lazy and search thoroughly.Hope I helped, I covered everything in detail so I likely won't need to reply.Good luck to you.
seloje
I'm not getting anything along the lines of "Failed to load <insert .esp here>, <insert .esp your load order is dependant on here> is missing.", In TES5Edit What I am getting is "An error occured while loading moduels. Editing is disabled. Check the message log and correct the error." By the way my TES5Edit is version "3.0.31 EXPERIMENTAL" Also in my BOSS log some files including master, are getting things likeBash Tag suggestion(s): {{BASH: Delev, Relev}}or Contains dirty edits: 2 ITM, 0 UDR records. Needs TES5Edit cleaning. A cleaning guide is available here.orNote: Obsolete. Update to latest version, 1 - Cloth (Heavy Armor, Light Armor, Replacer).orWarning: This file contains 2 deleted NavMesh record(s) that TES5Edit cannot repair automatically and it may cause problems with your game. NavMesh deletions should be reported to the mod author. A guide to repairing NavMesh deletions with TES5Edit is located hereEDIT: I got it to work. A certain mod add on to another mod was the problem. Not sure why it would have done that when it's required content was installed though. Thanks man. Skateboards
All good dude. Glad to have helped. If you crash on start up again, just follow that guide again. And by the way, you were supposed the message log was where it told you what esps were causing the crash, and the other steps I added were how to correct the error. :P
Alaxs
DO NOT RELY ON BOSS!!! It is better if you learn how to move the load order of the mods in skyrim, I know this because i had to do it, BOSS does not recognize every mod author says so himself. A tutorial helped me with the load order, Here is the tutotial Edited March 12, 2014 by Alaxs
chanchan05
BOSS is good for beginning to manage, then you move stuff around yourself.
