PurpleXVI
The two managed to make their way to a nearby toilet. Judging by the sounds, and smells, coming from the other side of the vent, there were a couple of people in there, and it wasn't very hygienic. While Knocko managed to make the approach quietly, it was Travis who dropped his PDA just as they were only a few yards from the vent. It clattered loudly on the metal before he could get it back into his hands. "Hey, guys, I thought I heard something in the vents." Commented one male voice from the toilet, "Think there's some pervert tech in there trying to get a look at us?" "Nah," replied another, a chuckle in his voice, "It's probably Erin's rat that's gotten loose again. Remember when the captain had her climbing around in there for three days trying to find it?" "Go vulk yourselves, guys," a third, female*, voice stated, but not in a mean way, "Hershey is not a rat, she's a ferret, and she almost starved to death in there." A few more jokes were exchanged before the personnel in the toilet seemed to forget the matter of someone being in the vents. (OOC: *Most modern companies, institutions and militaries operate on an entirely unisex basis, shower rooms excepted. Rather than doing it because of equality, it's done to cut down on costs. As a result, most public toilets lack urinals.)
Captain Andy
Travis cringed as he dropped the PDA. He tensed up as he heard the guards speaking and tried to keep calm. Once they were done talking he picked up his PDA and looked at Knocko and signaled for him to be quiet. Maybe the bathroom wasn't such a great idea after all. Travis took his PDA and pulled up a word-processor program and began typing a message. Once he was done he handed it to Knocko. "Maybe we should move to a different area. Sorry about that. Can you still hear them? "
Stampede
Knocko shrugged and raised his hand to indicate that he was not upset by Travis, however his heart was thumping so loud he felt the whole building could hear it. For some odd reason he kept thinking about a christmas party he'd had with Kate's parents. He had a really bad time and the turkey was too dry... He strained his ears to hear anything more. PurpleXVI
There was no more witty banter from the restroom. The soldiers seemed to finish what they were there for and then left. The only remaining sounds was the automatic flushing of a toilet and a faucet that hadn't been closed properly. Occasionally someone wandered by outside, but it sounded far away. Possibly the sound insulation was really good, or maybe they'd found a part of the base that no one visited often.
Stampede
Knocko pointed in the direction of the restroom and gave a thumbs up. He then did his best to gesture that maybe we should just try it anyway. He figured they would not search the restroom after it had been vacated so soon.
PurpleXVI
By some random twist of fate, the vent to the toilet was very loosely attached. There were only two screws, and they could be reached from the inside, Knocko could easily remove it with the tools he had. The vent was near the ceiling of the room, but it was still only a drop of a foot or so to the floor if one was to hang from the edge before letting go. A quick check of the downloaded map told Travis that they were a short distance from the kitchens, the ordinary barracks and the officers' quarters. The side of the base they were currently on appeared to be the one where all of the recreational things and various people's rooms were. There was a small local armory there, just for emergencies, but the big armory, the hangars, the control room, reactor area and other vital/military things were at the other end of the facility. Stampede
Knocko turned to Travis "Do you think they have janitors here? I guess they would know them pretty well by now."
Captain Andy
"I assume they would, being a small facility and all. Where do you think we should go from here?" Travis tried to keep his voice down, not wanting anyone to hear him from outside. He tried to keep his senses alert, not wanting to be taken by surprise. Stampede
"Ok, it's cliched I know...but I would try find some kind of way we could blend in...get some overalls and a mop...but if they have a well known cleaning staff. Well, that would be pretty useless...other than that, let's go to the control room. I got no idea how we are going to get in...without making a scene that is...they know there are strangers on the base..." He sighed "I think we are gonna be forced to crack some heads soon."
