major mod problem

hey all!

as you know, its pretty easy to install mods... but having vista (i beleive is what did this) has made this difficult...

 

when you go into the data file, there are folders for meshes ect. well, this is not the case on ym laptop here (which can run oblivion just fine) there are bsa files instead, and the mods are something called 7Z files

i really hate vanilla oblivion, and would really appreceate it if someone helped me

i figured out what i need. its a program... i think its called an unpacker or something... any free ones out there?

The bsa unpacker? That's the only unpacker I know of.

 

Type BSA Unpacker in the search bar and it should pop up.

 

I don't know if this is what you need but you can figure that one out.

The first file I recommend is not really a mod, but the program you will need to install mods after you have downloaded them. It is called 7-zip and is a file compression/uncompress program that is one of several that can be used to uncompress mods and move the various parts into your game folders. it can be found on Tesnexus here

just left click on the highlighted part of this line and you will be transferred to it.

 

That utility handles and unpacks the 7z files. Hope that helps! He doesn't mind and asks for feedback if you use the SR Library pages. I did use them and they are very helpful.

 

Ha! Trying to dl these mods is keeping me reading and researching. I'm sure it will get easy, but it ain't easy yet, lol
