I've had an idea for a game, for as long as I've been aware of gaming, and lately I found a mod which almost facilitates it perfectly.

For those of you who are unaware of Fallout 3 mod - Here is a link to it.

It is basically the creation of your own settlement, wherever you choose. For as long as I've known of the Morrowind construction set, and obviously a little later the Oblivion construction set, I've wanted to create something like this. I would also prefer seeing it on the Oblivion engine, as it's FAR more reliable, and I also just prefer the medieval setting.

Overview of features:

I think a full conversion would be a lot better than incorporating it into Tamriel, as it allows us to create our own Lore, our own setting and it also lets us create our own world to place it in.

Pre-existing towns which run themselves with 24/7 schedules with dynamic NPCs which can be spawned under the connotation of 'migrating', which will essentially be assigned jobs that are needed to keep the towns alive.

Trade routes, allegiances and wars. However wars may be too hard to incorporate, so rather maybe just defending your town, or instances for your battle. [i know this can be done, see Pirate Isles]

The necessity to build things and get help from other towns to expand your own.

Wandering NPCs that would like to join your town or offer their services.

Marketplace.

Expansion and evolution. Two of the most important parts. There would need to be models for start-construction, mid-construction and finished product, but start-construction could be taken out if necessary.

Invitations into your kingdom. You could extend your hand to other towns and offer them to join you; whether it be kindly or under a violent pretence.

The necessity of NPCs collecting essentials like food and lumber.

Now I can't particularly do very much for the mod. I can help create maps, and write Lore/Dialogue/offer my voice, but apart from that modding wise all I could offer would be some mid-quality texture edits.

So if you're interested in helping, what would be needed would be Scripters and Model Artists.

I hope this goes well.

Not exactly what you're describing there but I'm working on a similar project, much smaller scale than a full conversion. But from what I've done already, I don't see how it could be done on a much larger scale without tons of people or thousands of man hours of working. The scripting for this would be a nightmare. I haven't even begun to work on all the aspects of my mod, but those that I have start outside of the main quest are already a nightmare, and that's just a simple matter of Prosperity (basically, better the town does, higher prosperity, nicer it looks and vice versa)

I hate to say it, but what you're asking here won't be any easy task, especially for a total conversion. Maybe a large sized town if you have multiple people working on it. But something the size of Cyrodiil? *shrugs* Either way, good luck to ya. Just a heads up, don't expect it to be easy, don't expect it to be quick. Cause it won't be either.

I don't expect, or even want it to be as large as Cyrodil.

I also wasn't expecting it to be an easy task, which is why I'm trying to base it off of the fallout 3 mod. Even though it would require permission to use some of their code, I personally cannot code it myself.
