CaffeinatedOrange
The unofficial patches would be great to add. It may also be a good idea to optimize your textures; SMCO is my preferred choice for doing that. As for what's going on... yeah. I think I know. :P Your system specs are a bit low but you say you have good FPS/performance other than the CTDing, which often occurs at the same time, but not always. Your supplied papyrus log has normal, harmless errors and is not massive. 99% chance I think you're hitting the game's ~3GB RAM limit. Adding ENBoost would probably help very much. Adding another mod such as Sheson's Skyrim Memory Patch is a good idea. If that flies over your head, you can try to find a precomplied DLL file, but SSME is a very good alternative and does basically the same thing with similar results. (Note that Sheson's patch has been incorporated into the latest alpha build of SKSE, but users are reporting issues using that version of SKSE so avoid it for now.) What I want you to do is activate all your mods again, and then go optimize your textures and install Sheson's patch or SSME, and then go load up the save you've been using until it recently started to give you issues. Play for a while and let me know if you have any more crashes.
blehmeh
Oh wow, yeah I turned off all the mods, started a new save, and still got a CTD within 15 minutes. Any way of knowing what the issue is? Did you install any high resolution texture replacers? For example, Skyrim HD 2K: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/607/? If not, and you're crashing during a vanilla game... it might be time to consider backing up any save files important to you, and then uninstalling and reinstalling Skyrim. Or use Steam's "Verify integrity of game cache" thing to make sure nothing in your Skyrim installation is missing or out of order. Your hardware seems to meet Bethesda's recommended requirements (the 460 is 1 GB, I assume?). Aside from the CPU. You could try starting a new save on Low or Medium settings, and see if it makes any difference, just to make sure if it's a performance issue. Oh, and how much free space do you have on your hard drive? Edited January 31, 2014 by blehmeh

It's my understanding that Sheson's 'memory fix' is not going to do much for him in that instance. He might be better off going with 'Safety Load' instead (except he didn't report any ILS issues). I also doubt the unofficial patches will address the CTD problems. Nevertheless, one should install the unofficial patches (if for no other reasons than to repair vanilla bugs left unfixed by the official patches). And as Shenzi says, the myth that the game will experience a FPS drop prior to CTDs if the cause is exceeding memory or resource usage limits, is just that--a myth. Some people might experience this, some people will not. It might happen in some circumstances, and not in others. The 'Skyrim Performance Monitor' will help you ascertain if that is the cause of your game instability. Edited January 31, 2014 by ripple
CaffeinatedOrange
http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/000/578/1234931504682.jpg I didn't notice the 32bit issue. I THINK Sheson's patch/SSME and ENBoost would still be beneficial though? As I understand, ENBoost can help with VRAM being used (or being used without being considered part of the 3GB RAM? ugh complicated stuff lol) but it also and more importantly cleans the memory out so unused things don't stay in it. And SSME and Sheson's patch merely increase the size of the game's initial memory blocks but don't actually increase the amount of RAM the game uses.Unless I've grossly misunderstood something, but I don't think I have. Also, I didn't say anything about the FPS droppage thing? I did say on another post recently though:"Also, check and make sure your Microsoft Visual C++ stuff is up to date. I uninstalled that a while back, reinstalled, and had an issue where I would suddenly have a huge FPS drop, oftentimes with visual glitches, and then CTD. Another reinstall fixed that." Deadlyhaztard
O.o not sure what all the jargon you guys are talking about is. I'm not a very tech savvy guy so I'm just reading some of this thinking 'wat.' Anyway, I'm verifying the integrity of the game's cache right now.....anything else I should do? I just installed the game two days agoish btw, so I'm a little surprised it's messed up that fast. I was thinking the mods were the issue. (I got my copy of Skyrim on release day but had it uninstalled for about a year). My game used to play with mods on high just fine all the time (and I would never get crashes except once in a blue moon), so it's a little disturbing if it is indeed my system that is screwing the game up. I don't have any high resolution texture mods or anything like that. edit; Said 2 files failed to validate and were reacquired. Not sure what that means. blehmeh
It may or may not mean anything. Could just be that Steam replaced your two .ini files. In any case, the only way to find out if that fixed anything is to run the game. Shenzi's advice is solid, but in your case, you really shouldn't need anything just to run an unmodified game without crashing. And if you have played it before just fine, then either the installation is screwed up or there's a hardware issue on your end. At least, that's how I see it. Could be wrong. Deadlyhaztard
Alright I just uninstalled the game and all that. I'm reinstalling now. I'll be back if it's still messed up and maybe we can find out the issue. Thanks so much guys! Hopefully this'll fix it!

This what Boris had to say:http://enbdev.com/ctdfix.html Requirements* 64bit OS - 32bit may work but untested, probably should use /userva switch, but if you are that desperate good luck* a decent amount of RAM - more than 4GB* a suitable graphics card with decent amount of VRAM - depending on texture sizes* ENBoost - need to free up main memory He could still give it a shot. The worst thing that might happen is that it does nothing for him (which is pretty much what a few 32 bit users have reported, before going back to 'Safety Load'). Although, OP, you should make sure you will know how to uninstall ENB and ENBoost prior to trying this, which is basically just making sure you know which files belong to them by looking inside the downloaded archives (since they need to installed manually, you would need to, in the event of an uninstall, delete their files manually). Also, given your system specs, you would obviously operate ENBoost without enabling any ENB options (as to avoid any performance loss). Alternatively, dispense with ENB and just download SKSE 1.7 alpha, and configure memory pool size accordingly: [Memory] DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB= <default heap initial allocation size in megabytes, vanilla size is 512> ScrapHeapSizeMB= <scrap heap size in megabytes, vanilla size is 256> Also, I didn't say anything about the FPS droppage thing? I inferred from what you said here: you say you have good FPS/performance other than the CTDing, which often occurs at the same time, but not always. ...that you meant FPS drops do not always precede CTDs related to memory usage, and is thus not a 'reliable indicator', which would be absolutely true. CaffeinatedOrange
Ah! Alright. I'm a little airheaded today. :P That is indeed what I meant under those words. @OP: Let us know how the reinstall goes for you.
Deadlyhaztard
Unfortunately didn't solve the issue, still getting same crashes. :\ maybe it is something to do with my hardware. Should I try that ENB thing? Doesn't seem like a bright idea if it F's up haha... Edited February 1, 2014 by Deadlyhaztard
