blehmeh
ENBoost and Sheson's patch are really for pushing Skyrim with high res textures and numerous mods. If you're crashing frequently with a plain, unmodified, freshly installed Skyrim, I would say there is a deeper problem. Well, someone earlier mentioned overheating, so you might want to take a look at that. Download HWMonitor: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html It just gives you a little display of your hardware. You'll find both your CPU and GPU temperatures. Make a note of the Max value for both of them. Start Skyrim while keeping HWMonitor open, and play until it crashes. Check the Max value of your CPU and GPU temperatures again and see if anything was unusually high. If nothing is out of the ordinary, then I can only offer one last advice. Reinstall Skyrim in a different directory. Like, instead of C:\program files, try C:\Skyrim. I don't know if that'll do anything, but you're not going to lose anything but time. Deadlyhaztard
Okay, I used that tool. GPU was 152F (67C) CPU was 154F(68C)Motherboard was 125F (52C) at peak, during gameplay. So maybe it is an overheating issue? My computer is kinda dusty, it's also open-sided so IDK if that has anything to do with it. Never had the issue until now O.O. blehmeh
Your temperatures don't look bad, at a glance. The GPU should be fine. The temperature for your CPU depends on what model of Core 2 Duo you have (E6600, etc). This site: http://ark.intel.com/products/family/79667/Legacy-Intel-Core2-Processor/desktop should have your model listed, and you can check the max heat in the Package Specifications section. I can't really say for sure if overheating is the cause of your problem. When I had a CPU overheat, it shut the whole computer down, not just close a game. So, I'm kind of stumped here. CaffeinatedOrange
I don't think overheating is your issue; my GPU is idling at a bit lower than that right now after being on all day and some heavy play time. But if it's dusty, go ahead and get a can of compressed air and get rid of some of that if you can. Dust isn't something that you can totally prevent from happening, but you can clean it out every now and then. (You should have seen my PS3 after being used for 7 years and never being opened up for cleaning. Ick!)
Deadlyhaztard
Yeah I'm stumped aswell...tried just about everything. Guess my computer just doesn't run well with Skyrim anymore. Might have something to do with updating to windows 8, because when it ran smoothly I was on XP (yeah that old ;P). I guess I'll just have to wait a couple years when I can get the money to replace system parts? It's probably a hardware issue at this point, I don't know. blehmeh
A shot in the dark, but if you haven't already tried, run Skyrim under Compatibility Mode. Right click on the .exe, Properties, and it should be in the second tab.
Deadlyhaztard
Sorry I haven't responded in awhile, very busy. That didn't work either. FEels like there is no concrete way to figure this odd issue out, and it might be unique to me or something. I think I'll just have to wait until I can afford to upgrade my computer in a couple of years (damn school tuition for being so expensive).
