ZeroUK
Hey, I've recently been learning to use the GECK tool; watching video tutorials etc... I decided to edit a megaton house addon; replacing objects to suit my personal taste decluttering - removing the annoying red trike from the pre war theme etc.. Well i save the changes and load up the addon, it seems to work find untill a try to leave Megaton and a game crash occurs, i know this must be caused by a change i made because when i load the original addon the game no longer crashes upon exiting Megaton. Is there something i'm missing/don't know? -Any ideas? :pinch:
mechine
idk could be a conflict with the script that allows you to buy items for that player house Just viewing that cell in GECk scares me enough that I never attempted to edit it. On the other hand, You can duplicate the cell an do whatever you wanted with it. In the tutorials you'll see them like duplicate the megaton player house cell then delete everything, remove the navmesh, then build new stuff in the cell they do this to keep the lighting settings, which would make it harder to create a new cell so we kind of duplicate cells then rename them to save time, and either edit it or delete it all an build new stuff. You could try adding a second door in megaton that lead to your duplicated cell with most of the scripted stuff removed you know because of the crash. Not really sure what caused your crash though. If I had to guess I would be changing the theme stuff, which is scripted stuff. But you know it could just be a small tiny mistake which is usually where we end up shooting ourselfs in the foot. Something else you might wana concider, idk I don't really even mess with the player houses, if I wana cool place I'll just make one an then find a good way to put it in the wasteland, like doors that are inactive or boarded up. There's plenty of stuff you can do with the manhole covers and hatches, besides being able to add doors here an there. The last one I did was made by putting that huge metal block on the back side of a metal structure, then add a garage door to that block so it looks like a real build. Then all you do it try to keep the space realistic, you know, You can't place a trailer in the wasteland then make it a huge house inside lol like that ultraviolet movie, lolz
VerbalEarthworm
unsure what you did wrong in GECK, but it's easily done. just delete your plugin and start all over again. best to do tiny changes at first and check they work before doing any sort of overhaul. the more changes you make at once, the more difficult it is to ascertain exactly what went wrong. as for clutter removal, this is easiest (and safest) done through the console command "disable". i have been "tidying up" my game since i began modding using this method, without even having to bother with the GECK (as far as clutter is concerned).
