Fallentemp
I've run into a problem when creating a Companion, i am using the CM things to make things easier, i've got my companion working all fine and dandy, but i chose the Rens Beuty Pack hairs to put onto my companion, i've converted it to Master.. "if it matters any with it, so far from i've tested.. no it doesn't" My companion is a khajiit that i've set in the Arcane University, everythign works but the problem is.. the hair didn't change, i've reopened it in the Construction kit and the hair Option did not change.. i changed it back to the Ren_Hair i've selected previously and saved a few times only to have the same problem occur..idk if i'm doing somthing wrong or if its a problem with the CM partners thing. Anyone able to assist me? Apologies in advance if this is the wrong section to ask about this. Edited January 31, 2014 by Fallentemp

IkeCoast
You're using the standard CS, aren't you? You need to esmify the Ren's Beauty Pack, use this esm to work on your CM Partner, and once finished, change your CM Partner mod dependency from the Ren's esm to the original Ren's esp. This is done through Wrye Bash. But if you install OBSE and the Construction Set Extended, you will be able to use the Ren's Beauty Pack original esp as master for your mod directly, no esmification needed. Cheers! Cheers! Thanks for the help, but sadly for what ever reason CSE won't launch correctly... every thing is installed as instructions guided but i get the "CSE Failed to initialize correctly" Might be because its in the Program files (x86), since thats where i installed oblivion when i bought it, a little scared to move the entire thing somewhere else in fright it might screw somthin' up. I'm not to familar with WYRE, can you explain how i go about editing its masters through it? Edited January 31, 2014 by Fallentemp
IkeCoast
Yes, most likely the malfunction on your CSE is due to Oblivion being installed in Program Files. Windows Vista, 7 and 8 do not allow other programs to make changes to files in it, unless they have Run as Administrator set. Esmifying esps via Wrye Bash is quite easy: open Wrye Bash, right-click the esp you want to esmify, select "Esmify Self" and go on. Then use this esm as a master for your mod, and once you're finished, use Wrye Bash to change your mod dependency from the esm to the original Ren's Beauty esp. Do not forget to deactivate the Ren esm and remove it from your Data folder (you can keep it for future uses). I don't know if esmifying an esp deletes the original esp, so before you go on it, make a backup of the Ren esp. Just in case. Cheers!
DrakeTheDragon
From what I remember ESMifying an ESP only switched a flag in the file header. It wasn't even renamed to have ESM as file extension. I was always ESMifying plugins I wanted to use resources from in my plugins shortly before editing my plugins in the CS, and when I was done I ESPified them back before starting the game.Sure, I needed to keep that procedure in mind every time I wanted to edit one of my plugins again, but until today I somehow managed to not forget it even once.
