Norrath (EQ World Space) Mod Idea

This is an Oblivion mod idea not a PC game discussion.

Everquest was at one point the Best online Role playing game. To this day it still has the most content over 350 world spaces (zones). The only problem I had with EQ was the fact to get anything worth getting you had to camp spawns, kill the same Mob over and over. some items required mass raiding parties of 50 or so people to merely survive to the Boss spawn. Although I loved the guild I was in the time spent raiding, camping, etc, became to much. I have a family and EQ had to go. I've been playing TES4 for quite some time but I miss some of the aspects of EQ. I posted before about making the Ogre and Troll races as playable races, I've done that, admittedly they are ugly, and of low skill (first custom races still learning). among the replies to that post where EQ Classes. Which in some cases are superior, although limited in diversity, EQ classes can't branch out, ie a Mage can't learn cleric spells. so limited self healing.

There are some very interesting areas in Norrath. Most of which would translate very well in TES4. I myself feel I'm a decent World space modder. All of stuff has been done for personal use. mostly to amuse my seven year old son and myself.

So here I am asking?

Is there any interest in Norrath?

If there is, what would you want to see? Races, Classes, Zones, Lore, etc?

If you are interested and want to be a part of it. Feel free to say so. My skills are limited, There is a lot to learn and a lot I'm just starting to get grips on.

Of course legal issues will be the first thing discussed if this project produces interest

Actually, from what I remember, quite a few wouldn't due to limitations in the landscape mesh and dungeon statics. Blackbarrow and that one ranger place nearby come to mind. Although it might be rather cool to play with Oblivion's style of stuff, it just wouldn't translate due to oblivions style.

Really, it's best to just let the memories be memories and try not to tarnish them by trying to do a semi-good recreation.

Efforts are better spent trying to make something new that does translate.

I won't be recreating EQ in Oblivion, Would simply be recreating some of the land masses, dungeons, and cities with the TES4 construction set. So Blackburrow (if we chose to do it) might actually be filled with werewolves (renamed Gnolls) unless a modeler can be found. I in no way want a total recreation of Everquest, the UI is completely different ,the meshes can't be used, the textures wouldn't be used. Perhaps, maybe some of the quests could be loosely adapted to Oblivion. But I'd rather have new ones. Plus 376 world spaces is not Doable by any Team. I'd like to do 2 cities (Freeport, Neriak) and some areas between them (Nektulos,Commonlands,North Ro) and some dungeons close to thoses areas. Since this isn't EQ we could bend the region a touch. If all turns out well, then we would possiblly go farther.

Well, you would probably save alot of time and headache trying to setup ways to move from one area to another just by making as much of it as a single worldspace as possible. Most of their zones weren't that large anyway. The desert area for instance would only be about 6 cells wide when it meets the town, but expands to about 10 cells where it meets the swamp. Even some of their very large zones, like those western plains, would only be about 18 cells high by 30 wide.

True other then Cities there really isn't a reason to make "zones". Nor would I want to make extra world spaces. I was really trying to explain what areas "I" would like to start with. Remember this isn't Everquest. Just because East commons, Nektulos, Desert of North Ro were all "zones" Doesn't mean they have to be separate world spaces. As for cities I just prefer walled closed cities as to open ones.

Due to lack of support, Moderators moving post without reading it, And complete disappointment in the forums.

THIS PROJECT IS DEAD, I won't waste my time or yours.

Thank you SLAYEROFALL, which was the only supporter of the idea.

If a Moderator actually ever reads this kill the post, topic, what ever it is, since one of you did that all ready, put the final blow to it. I don't care, I biggest hope was to add something I deemed worthy to the community. Alas people find bikini armor far more worth while. why waste my time.

ive never played or seen someone play EQ. but i would truly love to see a big desert zone since theres none, maybe with pyramids as dungeons? or since pyramids are so big you could make like 2-3 different dungeons in different parts of the pyramid(like different entrances)...not sure(just mentioned this since i heard you guys talk about desert zones).theres so much you can do for a zone like this honestly.

its usually better to grab a fresh idea or being inspired by something you like rather than just recreating.
