Vagrant0
Its there a script or program that i could use to easily place book onto a shelf in the CS? I have about 50 or more to go and its driving me nuts.Unfortunately, no. I think the easiest solution I've found was to use Ctrl to select more than 1 book from the object list, place all those books into the scene in a single go (be looking at the floor from the top since different meshes will be offset). Position the books a fair distance above the floor. Now select all the books from the bottom grouping (usually the larger books) and press "F" while above a floor (be careful of using "f" when things are already on the floor since this may lead to crashing in interiors). The books should fall to the floor and stack neatly. Once books have fallen, unselect them and select the remaining ones in the group (why it's important to have a fair distance between the books and the floor). Once one size is done, move on to the next. If you have alot of books of the same type, they can become a bit stuck in eachother. To fix this, select that group, turn on havok, then quickly turn it off. This should cause some of the books to fall and separate. You can then go back and drop them again like normal. Once done, align them, select all of them, and rotate them as a group to fit into any bookshelf. Just keep in mind not to fill the shelf more than 60% or so since ingame havok will cause these books to burst out of their shelves. It is suggested to use the CS havok while placing a collision box in front of the face of the shelf to make sure the books spread out enough and don't start popping. You'll still need to manually arrange some books if you're concerned about the order they're placed, but this should speed things up considerably.
