UglyNerdMan
Below i list scenarios at the bottom and whats available and why I'm requesting this mod. Npc's have two behaviors. Sleeping relaxing at home in Pjs/normal clothes and then their armor if they have any. What I am requesting or is this: -a Mod to Force Npcs to equip and item and Keep it on.-a Mod that gives Ease of access such as dropping clothing piece on ground. and using a hotkey and clicking it and the NPC will equip the specified item.-a Mod that allows us to Define their combat and relaxing Clothes.- a mod to tell them to not equip anything else or its ok to pick up and equip items in these slots. In example. I have this Dark elf guy with a Enchanted eye Monocle from some mod and maybe something else that just looks cool. The npc finds another item and just equips it... making the look go away. So what this would also do is ensure that if they pick up items theyll only equip new items for specified slots. This will make companion Mods of all types and just walking around the cities or towns a lot more fun. i do get tired of the same old clothes on Npcs and also I like to dress my custom companions in weird custom armor like some Exnems and apachi hero stuff. They wont keep it on alot of it even if they slot is empty/ so this mod hopefully will provide ease of acess for equipping Npc's wioth clothes that you want them to keep on. Here Is the list of scenarios ppl will suggest or say and my answers to them ahead of time. Dude lieeek look up teh base id in construction set... No thanks i have to wait for it to load to look up one item hope fully remember it and go switch back in game to tell the npc to equip it? what if i change my mind? wtf? Listen there is so many mods And items and there's million of Base Id's. i know that you can see the Form id using console. and theres a list of normal Id's so you can make a character Equip and item. But what about Custom mods ease of access? Every time i want to look up a custom item or even a normal item ill have to go to a website or the TES hoping for its Base id's? and then i gotta type it out hope i remember the item name and id and type it right to do the equip command? Yes you can give npcs items with some mods or console but they seems to like to unequip tail and amulet slot items and other items for no reason. taking away a npc's clothes using mods and giving them some clothes does not guarantee they will equip them all. Ill cover another scenario again even tho i feel i covered it here in this wall of text ok someone will tell me "duh dude go strip a npc with some share mod and then give them ur items... dhurrr..." Right it doesn't guarantee them to keep the armor on or equip tail and amulet items and if you want them to loot they may as well equip something randomly that they pick up. UglyNerdMan
if none of this is feesable then the least i would ask for is a way to SEE BASE id's ingame with the console open. PLZ. Thankyou. what u see in console is the formid. means u cant use that code to do anything that only works with base id. theres so many damn items and looking in TES and waiting for it to load and playing oblivion at the same time? its not pretty. BadPrenup
Normally I won't be this curt with people, but...Read This (Preferably I, IV, VIII, and X) A little courtesy to people who take time out of their lives to try and improve your gameplay experience can go a long way. I wouldn't be surprised if your attitude towards some of the suggestions And as for actually trying to help you, I took a look through all the Functions in the CS, OBSE, Pluggy, and TSFC and there isn't anything that displays the BaseID, as typically they are only needed in the CS and if you are there then its already available to you. Here is some stuff I found that is similar to what you want:Refscope Enables viewing of RefIDs and FormIDs outside of the console.See You Sleep Shows you actually getting into bed, and can be configured so that you wear particular items when sleeping, possibly could be adapted to making NPCs wear specific items at certain timesBetter Hotkeys and Spell Delete Allows a lot more hotkeys, as well as some that equip user chosen armor sets, possible adaptable to NPCs
BadPrenup
Update: I might have found something that will work, I just need to talk to some people and see if I can work something out of it. Edit: Nevermind, my idea caused the CS to crash. and according to the CS Wiki's page concerning Base Objects they can't be found, well at least not in a way that is visible to the player. Pronam
Hm, maybe a spell and a questscript could do the trick. The spell will return the baseobject to a ref in the quest. Another spell (or the same..) would force an equip of the item, That leads to more trouble, because you'll have to record another variable to track which item is just equipped to ensure it is can be unequipped again. Now..I don't think someone want to do that much trouble...so lets make it easy... Get OBSE. if you don't have it.Make sure it is loaded when you startup the game.Inside the console, click any object. Yes, there is the form-id, ignore it. Then type in: GetBaseObject...it will return a Then click on (also in the console)your companion, add that item to them (additem 'item-number you just found' 1) Then force equip it (equipitem 'item-number you just found' 1)The '1' behind it will force the actor/companion to wear it until you say so... It would be wise to keep the item you just copied somewhere safe (in the game). So you easily find the base-id again.I don't know what happens when you use companion share to remove it from there inventory when you've forced the equip.... Pronam
Fortunately it is...saves another 3 hours tweaking a mod to work with all objects and their placements in slots. But I just tested and found out, I never had used OBSE in the console before. An imperial guard with a blacksmith's apron looks quite funny. I apologize. Thankyou for your response. You first part is uneeded greatly uneeded. I found a program known as Form Id finder 31_beta. This helps greatly. ref scope is also the same thing i believe. Thankyou for your help for my second part/request on form id/base ids.Ill update this as i read the rest of the post and look@ what u suggested more. #1 I am always thankful to the modders who make mods. i was not trying to be rude. i listed scenarios for ppl who dont read post and just give a random answers. i've gotten a few before. haha. with that as that, thankyou for your response it was actually useful and i felt you read my post. Currently i do this. i find the base id by dropping it and using a form id base id finder. its a spell n puts the ids in console so i can read. i then give it to the npc and force them to equip it with equipitem "baseid" usually the npc will wear it. but then outta no where the npc will unequip it for no reason which i find annoying. haha. Now this part i got down. I just find it a bit annoying to constantly type lol. I understand Obse ,mods out there do wonderful things n scripts. Was hoping someone would make a mod or a mod exist that i can just drop in on the floor hotkey n make a npc equip somfin.I do Alot of Machinima and sometimes it just gets a lil tedious typing and switching clothes. anywho thankyou your advice is rock solid standalone! very helpful. I had nooooo idea about adding the One. hahahah. ill update this when i try it. Thankyou verymuch
Pronam
Well, there are quite some possibilities to integrate this in spells and messageboxes without using the console.I just have to many on my hands to do it right now, as this would take some time to do too...:)I hope someone else could do it for you, but its the weekend. So maybe you're lucky. If not, I'll take a look at Sunday or after the weekend.
