Thepal
Recently I started a thread at the official forums about creating a community mod to update the base game of Morrowind. The idea was to change it so that the base version of the game (ie, the game without any mods) has updated textures and models, as well as new features such as schedules, improved guilds, new sounds and music, a new economy system, unique faces and dialogue for all NPCs, and much more. As some of you may know (if you've been around a while), this isn't entirely new territory for me. A couple of years ago I was working on a mod called Life to Morrowind. LtM was a mod that was to change most of the same things, and though despite being an insanely huge project, it was quite a lot smaller than my new plan. But still, I've decided to carry over the name and call my new project Life to Morrowind. The main difference between the two projects is this: I'm no longer working alone. LtM is now a community mod, and one I hope a large percentage of the community decides to contribute to. It will need everything from dialogue writers, to face texturers, to animators. You can do as little as contribute a single mesh, or as much as create dialogue for an entire town (or more if you are insane and wish to). Every bit will help to work towards the goal of a completely updated Morrowind. This may seem like an impossible undertaking, but I think it is one that can be achieved. And one main reason I think it is possible is that it will be organised. The LtM website will display everything that has been completed, allowing people to work on different things. So rather than have a dozen mods which modify the exact same model as currently happens in the community, people will be able to see it has been done and do something else. If a better option is created, then of course it could be included instead, but I've found people tend to prefer to do what has not yet been done. The LtM website can be found at http://ltm.ufrealms.net (Thanks to Silmarillion and Unforgotten Realms for hosting me). It isn't completed yet, but already a lot of the original Morrowind content has been added. This original content is there to make it easier to conform to Morrowind lore and to see what needs to be improved. As new content is created for LtM, it shall also be added to the website and you will begin to see the improvements. If you want to submit something, there are really only three things you need to know. The first is that the website is there for a reason, so please check to see what has been done (which is currently nothing). The second is that LtM will only follow Elder Scrolls lore, and therefore things such as French Maid outfits will not be included (not that they are a bad thing ;) ). And the third is this: [email protected] . Anything you wish to submit to the mod can be sent there. For larger things, links to somewhere it can be downloaded is much preferred over sending the files themselves. If you have any questions about anything, I can be reached at [email protected] . And I will be around.
Stampede
Good old Silmarillion. That's a pretty ambitious project, but from what little I've seen looks very promising, I hope you get the time and resources to complete it.
Abramul
Might I suggest you ask the folks at Tamriel Rebuilt if you can use their claims system?
Thepal
Good old Silmarillion. Hopefully the community can work together as well as I hope. Might I suggest you ask the folks at Tamriel Rebuilt if you can use their claims system? The LtM website will be able to handle any claiming that needs to be done. But it would take less time for me to create those features than to try and borrow someone else's code. Povuholo
Like what the makers of morrowind said about the construction set: Someone with alot of patience (and time) can, in theory, delete whole morrowind and make a new game of their own. Would be cool if someone really did it
