Region editor

The region editor is not working properly. I select the region, and click in "generate objects for this cell", and then it puts always juniper trees and default terrain, no matter what objects and textures I put in the objects tab. Can someone explain to me how this works? Thanks in advance.

Would help to see the objects list for that region, and to see the region map to make sure that that cell is part of any region. It looks like where you are is a spot beyond the normal map, so naturally you would need to define a new region that is in those cells.

Additionally, the region currently selected is a LOD region, which normally contains nothing else other than trees and basic ground textures. Any time you are working with changing region objects, you should ALWAYS create a new region, and copy objects from an existing one (or define them on your own IF you know that you're doing). If this is your own region, I would suspect that the settings for the objects are wrong.

This time I was using the Total Tamriel mod resource. The region was defined and its objects were copied from the Jerall Mountains region 4 (which is not from Total Tamriel but from vanilla Oblivion).

The red circles shows the region defined, the objects put in the list and the result in one cell.

Wolfstorm, despite your problem being solved I thought I'd over a touch of information for you as to what caused your problem. (I currently have four or five separate regions in my own mod, all of them over lapping to give a nice blending feel for each region instead of a sudden, harsh line where one region ends).

When you select a region to work with and then go the the General tab you should notice on the right side a box that says "Edge Fall-off(world units) with a number in the box (default is 1024). What this means, is that from the OUTER edge of your region, moving IN, objects become more common. At 1 unit from the border you should see nothing but terrain. At 1025 units from the border, you'll be seeing the full blown generated region in all it's glory. (From my experience, this is even taken into effect if you generate a single cell near the border!)

another note for over lapping regions and something to be careful about. If you notice under the Objects tab you have something called Priority (directly above the Generated Objects list, it changes for each object you select). This Priority is ONLY taken into account when dealing with overlapping regions. The higher the priority the higher the chance that it will be generated. HOWEVER!!!!! You should be very careful with manually setting the priorities as doing so -could- result in a much, much longer generation time, but doing so you can also get a very nice blend at your borders.

Hope some of this helps. The Region Editor is a very powerful tool indeed, but it can be quite finicky at times unless you really give it a lot of attention, especially when working with overlapping and borders on your regions.
