There have been a lot of threads over the years talking about game changing mods, and essential mods, but what about mods that just add to the game in simple ways? Things that enhance immersion without adding whole new features or revamping the gameplay?

There are mods like Moon Glow, that does exactly what it sounds like. Or Dark Brotherhood Babette Replacer, which gives Babette a refitted DB robe instead of generic children's clothes. Alternatively, Playable Ancient Falmer Crown, which adds the vanilla (unobtainable) Falmer Crown into the game in a lore friendly way. Mods like that are small but they help Skyrim seem more finished and detailed. What are your favorite simple mods?

you have a good point sometimes the little mods to more than the game changing mods

a few of my favorites

no glowing edges

removes the white glowing edge if you cast a alteration spell

climates oof tamriel

just makes skyrim look and feel better

power of the deadra

makes deadr artifact just that little bit better without overpowering

wearable lanterns

a simple mod but something that was completely middingh from the vanilla game

deadly dragons

makes dragons the trully fearsome monsters they should be

there are plenty of others aswell but those are in my opinion the'little' mods that make a huge different

I got a few of those...

1. Realistic Ragdolls and Force, a small tweak that makes spell/arrow hits not launch enemies across half the map, makes a world of difference to me.

2. Inconsequential NPCs, it's a large mod but still deserves to be mentioned cause Skyrim feels like a dump in the middle of nowhere without it. Imperial City in Oblivion had more citizens than entire Skyrim with bandits and Draugr included.

3. Wearable lanterns, cause I like lanterns and it's a great addition to the game.

4. Dead body collision, for it makes no sense to walk right through a pile of dead guys.

5. The Paarthurnax Dilemma, small tweak to the quest but a rather necessary one.

6. Unlimited bookshelves, cause there's always that one more book that can fit and make the whole shelf look better but Bethesda says "Nope!"

7. HD Road Signs (or something like that), for it's hard to know where to go when you can't even read the sign (I travel on foot, disabled).

8. Player head tracking, so you don't act like a lump of wood, even Oblivion had that implemented by devs.

9. Better shaped weapons, to remove paddles, those weapon shapes are terrible.

10. Footprints, it makes no sense to walk over snow and not leave a trace, should've been in the game from the start.

I played vanilla on a below minimum spec machine with no mods until just recently. I upgraded to a better machine (I'm not an avid gamer, but I really like Skyrim) and now I'm bitten by the mod bug, big time. The STEP recommended mods do a lot to improve and fix the little things. Climates of Tamriel is a good mod and it led me to the best thing I've found so far: real darkness. I am an avid camper and real darkness is something you have to cope with, and even enjoy. Now my character can only see stars at night (Shooting Stars; a neat little mod) and, if its cloudy, nothing. Its kinda creepy and real to wander around Skyrim in the dark. A Deadly Dragon attack in pitch black is something to fear, I can tell you that much. A torch, or some kind of magelight, is actually required now. And I get lost, both outside and in darker caves and ruins cause I can't see landmarks or recognize the inside of somewhere I've been before. With a light in one hand, you have to choose what's in your other hand more carefully. TBH, I'm tweaking an ENB preset for "better" darkness cause CoT doesn't do it to my exact preferences. But, the face of a sabercat lunging out of the darkness into my torchlight is a pretty cool (read that; startling) experience. Not so cool when its an assassin.

Pretty much all of my Mods were made on that simple basis.

Guard Dialogue Overhaul fits into that category and I'd say Immersive Weapons, Immersive Armors and Winter is Coming - Cloaks do to. I'd also have to agree with Werne about Inconsequential NPC's

Windmills Resized: One of those "what has been seen cannot be unseen" type of mods.

No NPC greetings: For those of us who get tired of getting asked whether they've ever been to the cloud district

Run For Your Lives: Stops dumb-ass civilians fighting an attacking dragon with an iron dagger and sents them indoors instead.

When Vampires Attack: Same as above, but for attacking vampires instead.
