hi all

i've pretty much tried out every style a character can be in terms of fighting, from battle archer (bow+no sneak), sneak archer, one hand, 1h+shield, dual, two hand

but i just cant seem to continue a mage character long enuf. i hav better magic and forgotten magic redone along with spell crafting but i just can't find myself intrigued enough

how do other members play when playing a mage character? what kind of mods help with the immersion?

I don't use any immersion mods, i don't use any mods that have redone any of the spells etc, but i still find playing my illusion / conjur mage pretty fun. It is a bit pain in the butt to get the conjur skill up, as it only levels when you cast a summoned helper, etc in combat.

As for immersion i play with my own kind a rules in my head, i sleep and eat like i do in real life, i don't use any form for fast travel. If i need to cross the map i sometimes use a horse, but i find them to be more in my way then helpful. I am very sure there is good immersion mods out there but i have not been looking, i don't need them atm in my playing, however i have been thinking about using realistic needs mod, i have it, but not activated it yet :)

a pure mage

most important thing to know do not charge into a room shooting fireballs , you run out of magika faster than you can say fuz roh dah.and dir horrible

you might also want to have a look into several mods like balanced magi and apocalypse spell pack those the one use

second try to specialize in one field and use the others as support , tho in my opinion alteration and restoration are a must have those are the spells that will keep you alive

a follower or 2 are also a must have just keep sure you do not kill them yourself

and lastly early access to the college of winterhold is definitrly a pluspoint since that gives you acces to a few good trainers and spells

Forgive me if I'm wrong but you seem to think everyone has the same likes as you do. I myself, don't find two handed weapons/playthroughs to be much fun but really enjoy sneaking around. I've played a pure mage once or twice before as well and loved it all the same without any mods. So maybe magic just isn't your cup or tea.
