Immersive Reading

Why is it that when you read a book in Skyrim time freezes around you? This really annoys me when I'm using mods like Frostfall, Touring Carriages, and Skyrim Heart Rate. For example, with Frostfall, I want to be able to sit in my tent and read a book while I warm up. Or with Touring Carriages, I could read a book on my way to Windhelm.

I haven't a clue how hard this would be to make, but any feedback would be appreciated.

Well there are mods which add a reading animation.

Dine with Followers not only adds drinking/eating animations to you and your followers, but it also adds a reading animation to you.

On the other hand there is Real Time Reading which adds the reading animation AND implements a simulated time passing by force you to wait between 2 and 4 hours.

Using frostfall myself, I know that it unfortunately doesn't apply to the crosslegged siting animation, so there's no reading while sitting in a tent.

In case of Touring Carriages, I don't know if the sitting reading Animation will play.

Not EXACTLY what you're looking for, but at least something to start with.

Problem is that there is propapbly no possibility to unfreeze the time while the book is open, since AFAIK it is actually a menu you're accessing. So scripts won't work, you'd have to alter the swf menu files.

Best bet would be to knock at the SkyUI Teams door and simply ask, if they know about any variables/functions inside the menus which could prevent time from freezing - if they don't know anything about this, there is no possibility. ;)

well you need to disable or remove something called "IsInMenuMode". its a utility that is referenced as:

bool Function IsInMenuMode() native

and will look something like:

if (!Utility.IsInMenuMode())

If you remove it from the book reading menu, time should pass, as the point of this menu is to pause time.

I have no idea how to do this, but i don't think its in the swf files, as i looked and couldnt find it, besides i

think that the code found there is for controling the menu its self.
