Prenihility
Is it normal for your save file's save number to go up? I noticed it said "Save 1" and after saving a few times, it said "Save 2", which doesnt make any sense to me. I i own the PS3 version of the game, but i didnt get the PC version too long ago, and i was wondering if this is normal... It might be a silly question, but as you can tell, im paranoid. I already have a ridiculous problem with the game already...
David Brasher
This is perfectly normal. I am not sure why it is this way, but it is. There will lots of autosaves, and manual saves, and some accidental saves. You will accumulated dozens of savegames. But don't worry, you can selectively erase them to save your system's memory. The savegame number seems rather useless. When trying to find a particular game, the picture, the character name, and the number of hours played are much more useful than the savegame number. animatoramps
I'm around 500 saves even though I erased/overwrited most of them. It's not a survivor horror game so I'm not worried about it.
bben46
My current save game number is 1897. However, I have noticed that the count number will start over with each new game, so my actual number of save games is probably well over 2000 even though I have deleted a few from time to time. Saves do not take up a lot of space on your drive, so there is no reason not to save often. A typical save will be about 600 to 10,000 KB. fewer mods and earlier in the game they will be smaller, The deeper in the game, and the more mods, the more it has to save, so they will be bigger. My #1 save is 638kB, my #1891 save is 10,397 KB. OBSE adds 1 K to each save, and Pluggy (if used) can add more on my last save the pluggy save was 90KB. Deleting older saves will not affect your newer saves so go ahead if you are short of space. When you start a new quest, when you level up, when you are about to do something dangerous, when you accomplish some particularly difficult feat and when you quit the game are all good places to make a permanent save. Then make temporary saves - the ones you write over as you go through a quest. When you do die, or have a crash they will come in handy. Other good places for permanent saves are when you first start the game in the prison cell, and Just as they open the passage in the prison cell. And when the emperor dies. That way you don't have to sit through any of the preliminaries. and in the sewers just before you exit where you are given a final chance to make changes in your character.
