Start Menu is Missing

Okay so I recently reinstalled FO3 and downloaded some popular mods for it but my issue is that the start menu won't show up. To be specific it gets as far as the BOS guy but no start option shows up and when I go to task manager the application is not responding. I just wanted to post my load order and see if anyone can spot what the issue is and possible fixes for it. Also just to add I have used BOSS and FO3 edit and both have shown no issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I have absolutely no clue what to do.

Also just a small question but how do other people post load orders? I just copy and pasted from my BOSS log and deleted some stuff that doesn't matter in this situation.

rumor has it ,Fook2 and FWE don't get along. But, the only direct menu related mod you have is this :

  • DarNifiedUIF3.esp Active

if you have a bsa tool, you need to extract the menu.xml from the vanilla archive and replace it.

how ever. you best course of action is to unchecked all mods and load the game. wait till the menu loads. exit and tick one mod "ON" at a time and repeat until you reach a spot where the menu exhibits this no run condition. this s=will point out what mod is causing the problem.

EDIT: an example for what i use : command path is this;

(C:\ModOrganizer\mods\Fallout3\Menus\Options\start_menu.xml)

That is an Isolated menu because i use a tool to make sure no other mods touch my stuff, or over write my stuff.

My "start_menu.xml" is edited to show a no live dll button. it's been disabled along with all the live code.

yours has GFWL active. this too can cause the game to choke. many other reasons as well.

Also if I were to go with the extraction route which .bsa file would that be in, and would using FO3 arhcive Utility be my best bet.?

C:\Fallout 3\Data\Fallout - Misc.bsa and the search term is start placed in the dialog box at the bottom of fomm or what ever search criteria is available in the tool you use.

you must click on that file name in the window of the found file and select extract. do not extract all, you only want one file and it's folders.

Fomm will not ask if you want to over write any files, it just does.

there should be only that single file sitting in there, any other files found on the drive in that folder, delete them.

Okay did that and it still didn't work and I unchecked all my mods and it worked so it's definitely a mod related problem. I'll get to troubleshooting to see what it is and thanks for your help hopefully I can get it up and running sometime soon.

when you isolate one. move it out to a folder on the desktop for safe keeping. If it is a required file by other files under it, place those in yet a separate folder, don't mix up the bunch. keep going down thru the list in this way.

the reason is, the file may be corrupted from a bad down load. Or might be bad. the others that come in packages may be ok. I have seen this. I keep all I download. bad ones that will not open? I delete them and retry.

but post the results of what you find so I can check them here.

Okay so I figured it out and its EVE that's causing the problem. I honestly have no clue what it has to do with the start menu but the only two things I can think of are a) I may have made a few installation issues since I was doing quite a bit at a time, or b) I think in the FOOK2 page they mentioned EVE was already integrated into the mod so maybe its that.
