gracietoo
As soon as I can, when starting Oblivion, I pick a fight with that unpleasant pirate lady, timed so the Watch will leap to my aid before she or her crew do for me, and when all is done and they are lying there, I take all their clothes and weapons and make their ship my home. When I have done this in previous starts, nothing untoward has happened, and I have stashed all my treasures in the drawers there for all the time - but THIS time, not having played the game for a while, when I returned from a quest and opened up the drawers to put more stuff in, only a few items of little value were there. Thing is, I MIGHT have sold them and forgotten - but is it possible that others could come in and loot my stuff while I am away??
marabunta5
I think i see what happend i thib\nk that those containers are set to respawn ( so after 3 days the items dissapear and the container "resets" so i think that happend
MikeHibs
NPCs normally don't come and take your stuff. The drawer that you put your stuff in probably respawns. It wasn't good idea to move into the ship anyways, since wasn't designed to be a player home. You might be able to find a mod that changes that, but the ship is for a quest. So it might be hard to change something like that. What you could do, is buy a house. Or get a house mod to store your stuff in. As for your missing stuff,i don't think you can get it back, unless you have an earlier saved game.
gracietoo
ahh.... never thought of respawning - and I did not know the ship was part of a quest either, so thanks for all that info. I don't got enough pennies to buy a house, but I guess I could doss down in the hut the other squatters occupy. Problem is, I have a really heavy battleaxe I pinched from Garthir's house in Skingrad, and a magic sword, and a bow and arrow set, and if I carry them all around with me, there is hardly any spare room left for plunder... guess I shall just have to save me pennies. Thanks again :)
bben46
Sell some of that valuable loot. You really need a place to store stuff you don't want to carry around. There is better loot available as you level up.
Arcozo
ive moved into the ship before, but instead of using the drawers,i used the chest, weeks went by...Nothing changed,A.K.A the chest is Spawn Safe.I dont like going to the ship anymore other than to store because the rocking of the ship sounds like a ghost(i know stupid reason)
bben46
I have not actually checked that chest on the ship, but if you return within the 3 days, the respawn clock is reset. You must be out of that cell for at least 3 game days before anything will respawn. If you can make it a point to always return to that location before the 3 days are up you will not see the respawn problem. I look at it as - you are storing your stuff in someone elses property. What makes you think it would be secure? Even though you have killed off all of the owners, the ship is still not your property. In a player owned house, all of the containers are player owned and do not respawn.
gracietoo
Arcozo, I agree with you about the creaking - tis a bit creepy. Bben46, you are right - I ought to sell the heavy gear and get a house (who can I sweet talk to get it cheap I wonder) - but I am rubbish without enhanced weapons. Ho hum... MikeHibs
Come to think of it,i moved in AFTER the Dark Brotherhood quest,or has everyone already done that? And its still happening? Doing the quest doesn't change the fact that it respawns. Why would you want to move in the ship anyways? It's much more worth it to save up for a player house.
