Errmm if you haven't actually skinned the model proper and just applied a skin modifier to the model that could very well be the problem. If you have just assigned a skin modifier and not linked any bones to it, I believe this is what makes the exporter will go "Lolwut, the guy wants this here skin modifer to apply to the model, but tisnae' linked to a skellington so I can't be buggered exporting the lot as es' going to be pissed off like a right ol' geezer when it dinnae' work as it shuld'".

well i done a thew things to test & mess about.

 

but in the end & this seens to have been my closesd yet.

 

i copied the stealth suit skin & pasted it onto my mesh & then exported. but it crashed in geck preview haha.
