FO3 not loading any mod, not even DLC

Hi everyone, as the subject says, no mod has been loading lately, I experience no game crash, nor broken characters, the games is entirely clean, which is rather surprising, so I don't know what to do.

My first thought was to make a downgrade to 1.4 and use a the v1 of FOSE that's not Beta, but I have little to no clue how to make a downgrade from 1.6, and don't even know if it'll work, so if anyone can help, I will be grateful.

If it's not needed and there is a better solution, I would be grateful to know, but in any case, thanks for your time =)

I've been searching and see that many people had issues that make them want to downgrade, but I haven't seen anyone that experienced no mods loading at all, so I thought making a new th with my issue wouldn't be redundant...

Let's take a look at your load order, and install location

go ahead an paste that up

 

 

Do you use FOMM

 

if you do right click the load order and copy it paste it here

 

if you don't have FOMM then having it might fix your Problem

 

I wouldn't know because you didn't put your load order in or other info

 

 

Well Color me silly but if you wana downgrade

 

I'd downgrade to 1.5 but that's besides the point

 

couldn't you re install fallout 3 an it repair itself

 

 

Idk I wouldn't know If I run into something I don't like I delete the whole thing an start over with a fresh install

 

 

In your case you could justify re installing if you installed priviously inside program files or the desktop

 

You should install to C:/bethesda or even better D:/bethesda

 

Program files get security risks put on what is in there by windows

 

 

you use XP or Vista, there's tons of vista tweeks just to get it to work

 

 

There's nothing wrong with the newest version of FOSE, you're spazing out on us

 

If you got one of the first retail discs then re install an it will be 1.0.15 I think idk

 

 

 

I'd use 1.5 or 1.6 plus FO3edit's master update,

master update let stuff that isn't even meant to work together

actually work together on my build, who knew, I had to let GECK autofix it though.

 

Or you can just use 1.6 say the FO3edit naysayers when they nay nayyyy purrrpshhh

Not a single mod sounds better, lad?

Anyways, I found that the Load order has little to nothing to do with this problem, as I reduced to only the four DLC and the GTS and it's the same, it seems the only one loading it's still the Fallout3.esm only =/

The current load list is the following; also I didn't put those that are unmarked:

With that list, none of them except the Fallout3.esm seems to be loading, I do use FOMM (my apologies for not saying it before) I hardly think it's a new mod of the one unmarked now, considering that I haven't installed a single one since the last time I recall playing properly, so I hardly think it's anyone of those that have been working properly until now. If worst comes to worst, I'll reinstall it tomorrow, I know the saves aren't the cause of it, because I only use saves made by myself.

 

I currently have FO3 installed on D: since I came into many unexpected loss of data to use C: to install only XP in there. So I will make a backup of the Data folder (or the files regarding to mods) and reinstall everything anew.

Sorry for my untidy English, since it's not my native language, I tend to make quite a few mistakes, so I'm sure it isn't something nice to the eyes of English speaking people, you have my most sincere apologies, and gratitude for your time.

 

An acquaintance of mine told me he has the 1.4 with all the DLC working properly, so I want to downgrade/reinstall to that version to see if the problem could be fixed that way, though I don't recall having any issue with 1.6 before.

 

A little edit: I found a save before starting the Anchorage simulation, but once you load it, it will get you to the entrance of Vault 101, I told you in case that information could have any significance.

Why fakepatch?

 

 

It's a total workaround/hack

 

 

Patch 1.5 an 1.6 work great

 

Once you factor in FO3edit's master update,

 

And then the mods

 

VATS - MCE.esp

VatsLongerDistance.esp

Precision_AutoAim_6000.esp

 

 

You can shoot grenades mid air again

either from patch 1.5 or 1.6 or the VATS-MCE I can't tell which.

But it works so who cares.

Which I think was the shooting grenades down mid air, and VATS getting messed up a bit.

 

 

VATS-MCE.esp changes VATS so it's based of your weapon skill rather than the normal way

which is what got changed, bringing on the fakepatch.

Yep, like I said, since the last time it worked properly, nothing has been changed, the archive invalidation is on and kicking

 

 

 

Why fakepatch?

 

When the 1.5 was available, I couldn't hit anything in VATS no matter which weapon I was using, a friend told me to downgrade to 1.4 again and use that .esp to fix the problem, it fixed it and never touched it again, though I put the 1.6 over it now that you mention it...

I didn't know about the Master Update, I have everything clean until the version 1.4, the use the Fake Patch to get the changes that the 1.5 was supposed to give, and the 1.6 clean, I installed the 1.6 when Point Lookout came out, so I discarded any possibility of patching the 1.6 over the 1.4 and skipping 1.5 since the game worked properly for a time, but it's not like I have anything better to point out...

The worst of luck, I can't find my copy of Fallout 3, so until I find it, Re-installing is not a possibility, what pisses me off the most is that I'm making a mod, and Cannot test it under this circumstances, anyways, thanks again for your time, I also got a word from a friend about the Geck ini, because the problem could be there, so I need the ini from someone else who doesn't have the same problem, but none of my friends are available at the moment, so then again, I'm crippled :whistling: Cheers lad.

Oh gawd

 

 

 

drop that Hacked up fakepatch crap

 

 

 

 

You don't have to reinstall

 

 

Just run patch 1.5

 

 

download FO3edit, install it

 

 

 

download

 

VATS - MCE.esp

VatsLongerDistance.esp

Precision_AutoAim_6000.esp (optional)

 

 

Install mods an any other mods

 

 

 

Find the FO3edit.exe, right click, create a short cut

 

right click the short cut, see the target line

 

add -masterupdate after the quotes

 

there's a space after the quotes though

 

so it looks something like "C:/bethesdasoftpoop\Fallout3\FO3edit.exe" -masterupdate

 

 

Once you get a load order, then double click the shortcut which is now your master update shortcut

 

hide it where you won't mistake it for normal FO3edit, It runs an if there is an error it stops the process

 

Then you either open that mod that caused the error with GECK an it set to active, with the hope

 

That GECK will prompt you to auto fix it, auto fix it then save, an run master update again

 

You could also ask that mod author to fix it for you (which FO3edit said was best)

 

 

Anyway if it still causes an error you delete it an move on get master update to finish

 

then hit the X to close the window which finalizes the master update process.

 

 

 

This however will turn all your .esp into .esm, as far as the GECK an GAME are concerned

 

which presents problems if you are a mod maker.

 

 

You can always create another shortcut an instead of adding -masterupdate to the target line

you put -masterrestore which undoes all the changes.

 

You also have to master update each time you add in new mods or take mods out

 

 

When I'm making mods I make it in the plug in version or .esp with it last in the load order

 

when I get a final version I'll copy the .esp an paste it in a folder I'll use to distribute it

then I move the mod into the load order an master update, or even master restore if I don't

have a plug in version because I forgot to put one aside or just messed up in general.

 

 

I have half the number of crashes or issues thanks in part to patch 1.5

 

but master update plays a part in it too, making 1.5 even better

Thanks! Actually the fixed ini solved half of my problems, it seems a line was missing, since then, the DLC started to load, and I could fix the mods load, though I had to realize that the problems with mods loading were elsewhere.

Now, the mods started to load recently, the problem was rather embarrassing, a friend came and installed a Japanese game, and to make it run, it changed the language of my windows to Japanese, well, I didn't mind it because I could use the computer the same as always, but it seems that the most notorious change was that it replaced the "\ " for the Yen symbol; and when it comes to windows it seems it works ok, but when it comes to search the mods route, it created another conflict, hence, it couldn't load any mod, I feel like an idiot for not realizing it sooner :wallbash:

I tried to install the 1.5 but with the 1.6 as current it won't let me, will it be enough if I have the fake patch deleted?

Man you're on your own with the fake patch hack

 

 

Ask them about it

 

 

If you ran a patch then it should un do what fake patch did, as it replaces the .exe when you patch

 

 

Depending on which patch you wanted 1.5 1.6. or 1.7

 

which they are pretty much the same thing as far as bug fixes

 

 

 

What you do to patch to 1.5 or 1.6 is turn your auto log in to games for windows live off

 

otherwise when you patch to 1.5 the end will load fallout 3 an log into windows live which will patch to 1.7

 

You also have to put fallout 3 an games for windows live as a exception for the firewall so it doesn't get blocked

 

uncheck it to block it again after you patch though

 

 

 

If you got a Japan game then you'll need a Japan Patch... Just a thought. No idea about that stuff.

 

 

 

1.5 1.6 1.7 who cares it's the same thing

 

So long as it's 1.5 or later you're good

 

 

Master update it though with FO3edit

 

What you do is find the FO3edit.exe, right click it and create a short cut

right click the short cut, click properties, see the target line

You want to add -masterupdate, but there is a space after the " "

so it looks something like "C:/bethesdasoftpoop\fallout3\FO3edit.exe" -masterupdate

 

From now on this is your master update shortcut, which you should put in a folder

named master update, on the desktop, inside the master update folder

you also put a folder named master restore, inside that master restore folder

you go back to the FO3edit.exe and create another short cut, which you place

in the master restore folder, right click the short cut, click properties,

Add -masterrestore to the target line.

 

 

You put them in folders so you don't mix them up with your FO3edit

it's a different program, and you don't wana click one when you wanted the other.

 

 

So after you got a almost 100% correct load order, double click the master update

shortcut, it will run an display tons of text, any errors will be displayed as well

and the program will halt at a error.

 

If you get an error, there are a couple of choices,

1. ask the mod that caused the error to fix it

2. Open the mod that caused the error with GECK an set it to active

Then hope the GECK prompts to auto fix it.

 

Run master update again, if it still causes a error then delete the mod uninstall it

Run the master update again until it finishes without error

 

At which point clicking the X to close the window finalizes the process

 

From there you have to run master update again each time you change the load order

or add in new mods. Also look into FO3edit's read me.

 

To remove the master update all you do is run the masterrestore shortcut you made

 

 

So you see there is no risk
