There are some things you can do right now, but there are also some pretty big limitations. If you haven't yet, I'd suggest downloading DarNified UI, trying it out in-game, and picking apart all the xml and script. In DarN's absence I can try to answer some questions about UI code, but I don't have half the familiarity that he has.
