Stradian
I'm Creating a modder's resource for a mini ammo press that will act just like the one in the pitt. This resource, I plan to target to the guys building all the housing mods. But, as you may of figured. I'm calling for help, simply, because, I can't texture a single object and make it look like. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x78/a-10_man/Mini-press.jpg I want this to look simplistic, but professional looking. like the bobble head stand. There is suppose to be a computer sitting on the empty desk space. If someone is willing to be up to the task, ill send you a copy of the model via pm, in the requested format. and a simple texture made from the uvw map. Tony the Wookie
can you put up a picture with wire frame on?
Skree000
looks good, but the smoothing groups are a bit generous, notice how the rectangular shape in the bottom right is trying to become smoothed with Gouraud shading around the whole thing. Try setting the smoothing angle tolerance to 45 degrees on all faces/polys. Read this quick tutorial. its a GREATTTT tutorial on smoothing groups. Everyone should read it actually: http://fgiservices.com/Tutorials/Text/Smoo...thing_home.html
Stradian
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x78/a-10_man/Mini-press-1.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x78/a-10_man/Mini-presswired.jpg Re smoothed and wired. By the way, I was dumbfounded on smoothing. Thanks very much for the tutorial.
Skree000
smoothing is one of the most overlooked things, yet its one of the simplest! Great work, smoothing looks much better :)
Tony the Wookie
doesn't look like it would be hard to unwrap... if I didn't have a bunch of other things to do I would do it, but you should try it yourself, it shouldn't be that hard, if it ends up looking bad, post it back up here and I will see if I can tell you where you went wrong
Stradian
Unwrapping this model wasn't hard at all. i have a base texture to work with but, it is, as of now. unmodified. I plan to make this more fallout like, with a more dull constrictive yellow in a similar fashion to the oven in the survival cooking guide. Scince I have to leave for a week, ill post an update after my trip. Tschüss!
Stradian
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x78/a-10_man/Press-texturemk1.jpg Texture for the press is done. Thanks for the help guys! I can't wait to see what I pop out of the oven Update ! http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x78/a-10_man/Press-texturemk2.jpg What do you guys think so far? johnnymoha
I can't quite put my finger on it but it seems a bit too green to me. What kind of metal is it actually made out of? If it's copper or brass or something then I can see it being green because of tarnish or whatever. Maybe it's just too saturated. not sure. I like the scratches but the deepest ones seem kinda out of place. I would think that the deepest scratches would be on the 4 sliding angled edges and the side would have more of a gradient the lenght of the bottom where it rubs against the side when it's raised to put ammo in and take it out. I like the thing on the right too. After you finish with the scratched layers you can pump it into the nvidia normal map plug-in and really make those scratches pop in the light without a ton of effort. cool deal man.
