TotallyNotToastyFresh
Everybody who has played Oblivion knows about Bananasplit better cities, I'll assume. I want to make a similar mod for Fallout 3 that overhauls Megaton. I've kinda already started, actually. Toasty's Rooved Megaton That is the frst stage of what I'm hoping will become a large mod. But here's what I'm posting for; I really need user imput first. What I'd like to know is what people would like to see. New shops? New utilities? Shoot. The other thing I'd like is a list of mods that add to Megaton also so I can talk to the authors of said mods to incorporate it into this larger mod. Thanks for your input. Skree000
Wow, i just checked out your domed Megaton mod, it looks COOL! You should erect some girders or metal beams going from the sides all the way to meet at the top. There you can have a circular ring-port that opens to let Vertibirds in, or opens during the day for sunlight. That would be REALLY COOL!!!! Wow, ive never been so excited by a Megaton mod before, this is really neat! You could probably figure out how they did the animated doors at the entrance to megaton that open when you come near, so they will open for Vertibirds! You could get some kind of a triangular-piece door setup that they all come together to form a circular door that blocks the hole. Hard to describe but i think you know what i mean... Like an Iris? Anyways, if you could get some beams leading up into the superstructure im sure you could even mount raised platforms and extra shops in there on upper levels even higher than what vanilla has. Really develop the town up! You know, after some thought it almost seems as if Megaton is attempting to build up a huge dome like that, the walls in their current state look like unfinished plans :) GREAT WORK! http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/images/7916-1-1248343844.jpghttp://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/images/7916-2-1248343845.jpg My JAW dropped when i saw this pic. What an awesome atmosphere this pic has, i can imagine how the wind howls and whips around whistling through all the holes :) ps. to review, i think you should concentrate on reinforcing the structure first, and/or elaborating on the top port-hole part, then move to building some structures in the upper areas, really take advantage of the dome and show it off :) JUST.... LIKE.... THIS!!!!!! see how the bay doors open to let in the craft, what a great effect, you could TOTALLY do that. Megaton already supports sliding metal thingies!!! OH OH and before i forget, if you can make it a bit more foggy in there, that would help the viewer see the shape of the city a bit better, by obscuring some of the geometry that is farther away. (since most of it is just repetitive colors and textures, it all kind of blends together in a very overly-busy visual effect that is kinda hard on the eyes.. ) i think adding some dust in there (represented by a bit of distance fog) will help break up the monotony and give some better atmosphere (just dont make it insanely foggy so hard to see lol.) I think it would make sense too, since now that Megaton is an enclosed structure, the sand and dust would not be swept away by the winds so easily so it would hang in the air for longer, as well as from the people burning stuff in their ovens etc, or what have you. Mekii
*drools* My holy cow, I couldn't imagine a roof could do so much to megaton, and... umm... umm... I think Skree have already had the idea that popped up in my head, butit popped up in his head first then.... Well, Megatons mods that's pops in the head would be trynfkwtme's Exotic Dancers Version 4 and also his armory mod.... oh and Skoupy's Megaton Expansion. You could always justsearch on Megaton in Fallout3nexus for more mods.
TotallyNotToastyFresh
You could probably figure out how they did the animated doors at the entrance to megaton that open when you come near, so they will open for Vertibirds! Yeah, I like the sound of that, the triangular doors could make a really nice iris. But the problem is that it's kinda pointless, unless I had an exterior Megaton 'hub' that connects to the main town. Which I already do, but, how would it work? On the exterior, you have like a big door that opens to let the vertibird through, but even if you leave it shut it will still come through. I'll think about it. And thanks for the crit, BTW, it really helps :)
Skree000
exterior doesnt need em, cos they are so high up the player would never EVER be able to even position his default camera to anywhere they would be visible... ? right? you could just make them fold down and inward :)
VerbalEarthworm
well, i for one, would not like this idea to become just a "giant garage for vehicles". as i said in the comments on your Rooved Megaton mod, i am really looking forward to seeing the exterior of the dome, and i am hoping that i will be able to build a camp right on the zenith. being disconnected from the Wastes, the interior of Megaton is of secondary concern to me. Mekii
I have found an mod the exterior conflicts with, need to get back to you about that later, as soon as I've figured what the mod were called now again. Edit: Figured what mod it were: FullAutoPistolV2Test.The problem is that the garage door dissaperes behind the exterior walls. http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k319/Nimmeriz/ScreenShot270.jpg
