Stampede
I think it's totally awesome. I was never into the actual main part of it...but I could play the melee section, over and over! The soundtrack is also brilliant, I listen to it quite often.

Stampede
Well...I actually downloaded the soundtrack off the net. However, if you want in-game sound, a google search for Dosbox, that allows you to run almost all DOS games in windows perfectly. I just cannot play that game without hearing the sound of the Ur-Quan Dreadnaught's cannon.

Lycan
HEY!!! Stampede! How do you use this DOSBox anyway???I have got it but it is not working...Did you ever use it?If yes than how do I use it???!!!
Stampede
There should be readme instructions with it. But basically this is what I do: 1) Run Dosbox (Double click it or whatever) 2) At the command prompt I type: Mount c c:\ (if c:\ is where I keep my dos games.) This creates a dos environment for the c:\ 3) Then I type c:\ This takes me to my dos C:\ 4) Then I just treat it like normal dos. EG: cd starcon...etc. 5) Press Alt and Enter to get full screen mode. Thats the best I can explain it to you...I really suggest you read the readme file. baldy99
For all those are interested, Star Control II is available as FREEWARE which runs perfectly under XP at this link: http://sc2.sourceforge.net/ To quote them: "The project started in August 2002, when Toys For Bob released the partially ported sources of Star Control 2 3DO version to the fan community. Our goal is to port this wonderful game to current personal computers and operating systems. It is and will remain 100% free of charge, and anyone can contribute to the project and thus help make it even better. For more information, look at our info page." It's open source and is still being worked on by a community. The game is terrific, and I even printed out my old PDF manuals from the DOS version for it. :D
