Mouse Wheel Trouble

Right, so I have finally had enough. My mouse wheel never gave me trouble back when I played FO3 for xp, but now that I'm with Windows 7 it frustrating me.

 

The only problem actually comes from the world map. When I scroll the wheel to zoom in, it first zooms out a little, and then zooms in. So I have to furiously scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in even a little bit. Literally, you can watch the physical slider on the pip-boy itself scroll out before every time I want to scroll in. Its a shame that button the pip-boy isn't a real functioning one.

 

All the other pip-boy menus scroll perfectly. And other non-FO3 programs are fine, too.

 

I've finally snapped. I can't take it anymore. I just want to zoom in like a normal person.

Why do you need to scroll the world map on the pip boy anyway

 

I was just realizing how useless it is today

 

 

when it's scrolled out you need it scrolled in

 

And even with the high res color world map

 

scrolling in just blurs the poop out of to where it looks like barf

 

 

 

In the slim chance that you are scrolling out or in to get to quicktravel points

 

you do know that if you left click an hold, you can now pan around the map

 

making the need to scroll even less that it was before you realized how

 

useless it is even with a high res color map?

 

 

Try left clicking an pan around

 

 

 

Also I think the dial on the pip boy is animated, so when you scroll it moves ingame like the Player charicter did it

 

 

 

 

Even further you could adjust your windows settings for scroll down

 

 

Like for instance I set mine to 1 each click is 1 line or one scroll instead of the 10 scrolls we use to surf a web page

 

 

Fallout 3 applies a multiplyer to mouse movement (why idk it's retarded)

 

 

 

You can disable that mulitplier function

 

You'll have to read an find out how in the tweekguide

I had this trouble too, while this is a very old thread, no help is found elsewhere and this is the result that comes up in a Google search so to help someone else

If you used the mouse wheel and the zoom in the PIP boy is erratic, Use pageup and page down to zoom the PIP Boy
