Britanol
Ok, I just picked up Charon, gave him the Confederate cap, then went to Rivet to take care of the 'bigot' Ted Strayer. I went into his room, quicksaved (for the first time in my life) and tried killing him silently with my sniper and Col. Autumn's Laser pistol, both resulting in failure. I then decided to use the silenced 10mm. I used console commands and got myself one, then killed him. No results. I loaded the quicksave, then decided to talk to him. He told me that he'd give me anything as long as I let him live. I thought, ok. So I decided to take care of Mister Lopez's "ailment". I left the room, then I went outside on the bridge. My laptop freezes up, and suddenly Fallout 3 closes. I load the game, load the quickssave, talk to Ted, get the key, then I drop Charon, thinking he and I are spawning in the same pixels causing the crash. I leave, walk out on the bridge and then after three steps, CRASH. Repeat the last step except now I'm able to walk around the bridge. I wait, then after 2 hours of waiting the game crashes. I decided to experiment this reload, and apparently if I leave the Rivet City interior cells, I crash after a while. And if I wait for over 2 hours, I crash. My disk has a tiny eensy-weensy crack on the inner plastic ring (the clear one) and I'm running Vista, Games for Windows Live. I changed the binvalidateolderfiles=1 and that's the down low. I gave detailed instructions so I would know if I needed to start a new game. I also have all DLC save The Pitt. It out of nowhere started to crash when I started to talk to Ted. Anyone who could help me, I would greatly appreciate. Plus, I'm running the 1.6 patch, and I'm afraid that if I reinstall, I won't be able to use live or load my recent save file. mechine
You mean people actually use GFWL (live) I think even if you use a silent weapon in rivet city then the guards find out about it one way or the otherWe could all get groveatron an pick up NPC's then carry them off the ship to pop a cap in their sorry Arse. lolz Besides that you should look into FOMM an FOSE. Turn all the auto save functions off Always create new saves There is a high probability that what you have is a corupted save game either from your privious saves or the privious events to that save You can roll back the save to find out I guess. Wait I take all the poop I just said back You have a definite corupt save game. Naw I'm kidding how would I know It's up to you, if it's really a corupt one, but it sounds like it. Even if you did move past that point, there is a good chance you would crash everytime you tried to save after getting out of rivet city. I just heard a minute ago that somepeople get autosave bugs where they don't even know they are crashing for 1 hour of more which is a long time in game, so trying to find out what really caused it is almost impossible. You crashed in rivet city so our first path to diagnosis begins with the thinking that it was something that happened there, which may not be the case, it could of been an hour or more ago, one thing led to another an bam, corupted data... You can either wait for someone else to post about this that knows what they are talking about or just roll back your save an move on, or update your drivers, defrag the hard drive look for programs running in the background, tweek your settings some more, it just goes on an on... What kind of system, install, mods are ya running?
Britanol
I'm using a nightvision mod, trophies house megaton, and all DLC save the pitt. Will I be able to reinstall Fallout? If so, I think I'm going to wait until Zeta comes out then I'll install FOSE. Anyway, all of my favorite mods are for that anyway. Is there a way to transfer my DLC into FOSE anyway? Plus, if I reinstall NOW can I use the LIVE access code again?
mechine
Live GFWL LOLZ ums I didn't have to do that part after the first time, even though the reinstallFOSE disables GFWL among the other great things about FOSE Which means I haven't used GFWL since I started putting mods inbecause I always had FOSE running, from some of the nicer mods requiring it for full intergration. Posting load orders on nexus you should probably download an use FOMM As it also will launch FOSE if it's detected. Concerning DLC's you should either read the pinned thread how to get DLC's to work with mods, or post a thread with DLC's in the title which would draw the DLC specialists to your post, rather than noobs like meh. I don't use DLC's, but I mean FOSE is pretty easy just get the most recent version an install from there you either launch FOSE instead of the default fallout3.exe launcheror in the case of having FOMM installed FOSE is launched via FOMM rather than the games default launcher. I'm sorry man, what was the question
