After about 30 hours of gaming, I now have a freezing problem.

I started a thread a little while ago back when I suspected this problem was just in Megaton. Unfortunately, I was wrong, it's everywhere. Usually I freeze (requiring me to control-alt-delete and see the task manager say Fallout 3 is not responding) within seconds of loading a game. Sometimes it can take a few minutes. Once I managed to play for an hour and a half without the problem.

I got back into Fallout 3 after downloading some new mods and, so they would work, the Fallout 3 mod manager. However, I've tried, one at a time, playing Fallout 3 without these new mods, and even playing it without the mod manager, but I still have this freezing problem.

The only thing that's changed besides the addition of new mods is that I recently started a new game after playing about 30 hours with an older character. I managed to get through the beginning just fine, but ever since I exited vault 101 with my new character it seems I've had this problem. Even when I load saves from my previous character, I still have this freezing problem.

Any suggestions?

If you use a mod that adds a perk, then you gain that perk, then you disable the mod you won't be able to play without freezing, try to remember if there were any mod-related perks you had, I think you just need to install that mod again and your character will be working again.

Thanks, but my new character doesn't have any mod-related perks. My old one does, though, and they are from the DLCs (which I've unchecked in my datafiles). Still, would that cause freezes in my new character?

Well dang alex. I tried rechecking my DLCs and then played for quite some time without freezing. I guess its possible I got lucky like the time I played for an hour and a half, but hopefully that's not the case.

Eitherway, in absence of Fallout 3's playablity, I started a game of Far Cry 2 single player, and now that I've gotten into it it might be a little while before I pick up Fallout again. That means if I did get lucky, we may not know for quite some time.
