mechine
Nice What I does... I be in GECk making the weapon an say "OH NOES" because it's time to pick the sound, an I don't have a sound for it yet. So I minimize geck, copy a 10mmpistol_2D Name it like the custom weapon, drop it in the FX somewhereYou can even have 25 or more sounds in one fire file Anyway, after the sound .wav gets dumpped in the fx weapon folder In geck I think you go to the misc which is where the sound is at then you just double click a similar weapon (important part) first thing you change the name so it will create a new form then make it point to the new sound you dropped in the fx weapon folder that puts it on the list, in fact all the sounds in the misc\sound part of geck is the list So you should either name it to show up at the top or name it an remember where it will show up in the WPN sounds. Anyway after you get the sound created in GECk an it's on the list you go back to the weapon an pick itan save it. Later on you can change the sound by just renameing the sound you really want an drag an drop it making it replace it. Something like that You can right click a .wav an propertys, then select the details parts to learn the tech part of ithow many channels or the sample rate an such 2D is the sound we hear when we shoot 3D si the sound we hear when someone shoots at us So depending on the weapon you made, most times you don't even need a 3D sound. But you'll run into mods that they got the 2D an 3D sounds mixed up where you have a npc's that's 50 feet away shooting at you an it sounds like it's point blank. You can switch out the file or fix it in GECk Also the converters like Wavepad sound editor, allows you to convert 2D to 3D or convert low sample rates to 44kHz or whatever. There's a few mods that deal with just sound, so there's a lot of stuff to work with out there. Recently I used DJ software to change the pitch an add a flanger effect which chopped up a gun sound an made it sound more mean. I wouldn't try fixing all of it at the same time. There's just too much. Just fix them one at a time when You notice them you know. it's more easy Something else I'll create a save point to test weapon sounds drag an drop an replace a sound, go in an test an repeat it over an over. You can even create shortcuts on the desktop to get to the area you're testing like shortcut to 10mmpistol\fire Also It will save you some work if you learn to click the original file in order to rename it and with the text all blue copy that then paste it into the file you're going to replace it withyou know rather than type that mindless poop out each time
