lumiene
I just started playing Morrowind. The first clothier my character conversed in, exagerrated the importance of clothing - that some NPCs will not engage with you unless you are to wear better clothing. Is this true? Cannot find the answer to this anywhere.
Tchos
I seem to recall this is true, but only to a minor extent. I think I remember a quest where you needed to be wearing an expensive item of clothing to proceed. Also, if you join the Imperial Legion, then you can only report to them for quests if you're wearing an Imperial Legion cuirass. Also, characters will refuse to speak to you if you're naked. The quality of clothing also matters in the case of enchantments.
