Using TES to build caves

I'm new to this forum so am unsure if this is the right place to ask questions.

My friend and I have been working on our first mod and may have bitten off more than we could (easily) chew. We've made about 13 of 20 quests we have in mind for a new guild, so we've learned a lot along the way. One thing seems to have eluded both of us though: building a decent cave. Whenever we try and build a cave (or other interior) using statics from the same family, we can never seem to get the edges to line up: there are always gaps (or gaping holes) and/or edges that stick out. We've looked online to try and find what we've been doing wrong, but have come up short. We've tried with and without snapping to grid/angle, use wireframe and collision modes (F4 helped somewhat) but still have this problem. When we play the caves that Bethesda made, we see the occasional rock on an edge which we assume covers up something, but we don't want to have to use rocks on EVERY connection we make. Is there a better way to do this that we've been missing?

tl;dr We can't make cave pieces match up right irrespective of what we try. Google has yielded no help.

Don't worry, this is the right place to ask.

From the sound of it you have 'Snap to grid' turned of. Click on the grid button at the top left of the screen (next to redo).

Well he said in the initial comment that they've tried with and without the snap to grid, and still are having trouble. Personally I've been having trouble with this myself.

I recently came across "Blockheads dungeon generators", but couldn't get them to work, and with the GUI for them that I found on here, it get's to "generating ESP files", and sits on #0. Been stuck on it all day today, doing nothing at all... I'm just assuming that I'm doing something wrong, but what it is, I don't know...

But yeah, I'd be interested in learning how to build a good cave as well.

But as far as help for you ixthcrusade, all I can say is this. Just go to a cave cell that's already in the construction set, copy everything, go paste it in yours, and just change things according to what you need. I've done that a few times, and it seems to work well enough.
