What I would do, and I've never even built a vault door.

 

 

I would first look at how bethesda did it by going to vault 101 or probably 107

 

you know the one hidden in a garage basement

 

 

anyhow double click the actvator and even the door an look at the tabs an settings

 

to see how it gets linked.

 

I think it's called activated by or something

 

 

I remember seeing it in the traps tutorial

 

like how the trip wire activates the hog leg that comes down an hits whatever tripped the wire.

 

 

so double click it in the render window or maybe even right click idk

How do i link a Vault Door to an activator that will open it?

 

Easy way -

 

Have a cell with a vault door - its 2 pieces, the outer part and the round door itself.

 

Put your activator outside the door.

 

double click on the vault door (circle). Change the ID to something unique.

Check the "Persistant Refeence" click OK and answer Yes to create the new form.

Double click the activator. Change its ID to something unique. Find the Linked Ref tab.

Click the "Select Reference in Render Window"

 

Move the cursor over the door, the cursor should turn from red to white.

Double click on the door.

click OK to save the activator, and yes to create a new form.

Save your mod and try it out.

You should still be able to open the door by activating the door proper (so you can get in/out from the other side.)

 

Others may posts ways you can trigger the door from the activator only.
