GnrlKitty
Skyrim keeps crashing my entire PC during seemingly intensive moments in gameplay. When it does, I can't alt-tab, I can alt-tab, but not to desktop. Instead I have to alt-tab and then click on the desktop of my 2nd monitor. I can't right click in the taskbar and close, I can't close it in task manager, signing out and back in doesn't let me do it either. I have to restart my PC entirely. Is this a familiar problem? You can see my modlist in this thread where I have another problem as well. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1399235-tree-lod/
Blaze340
You seriously can't close Skyrim with task manager? Ending the task of Skyrim doesn't work, but ending the PROCESS of TESV.exe (Skyrims process) when my game freezes usually does the trick. Unless task manager simply don't comes up for you when trying to bring it up. Never had that problem so I can't help you there. Posting your computer specs could help out. Overtasking your computer with enhancement mods could be the problem... Edited February 16, 2014 by Blaze340

Tulsa299
assuming you aren't a pirate I'd say your pc needs a good clean, I recommend Ccleaner, anti-malwarebytes and maybe spybot if things are band... couldn't hurt to clean out the hardware either. If you do have a cracked version of the game.. dude come on, I'm not 100% against it but give your money to the people that deserve it...

bben46
This is one of those times when a dual monitor set up really comes in handy. :cool:In task manager, select the 'Processes' tab and find the 'Skyrim process tree' ( may be listed as TesV process tree) and stop that - that should close Skyrim. But that still leaves you with the problem of what caused the game to freeze in the first place. Try playing with no mods and see if it still does this. One possibility is an overheating Graphic board. Make sure your fans are all working and that the air path through the board is not blocked by dust.
