Crash only when I enter a specific area.

So I'm on the first quest you get after you enter the Arcane University, the one where you have to get the book from the Count. However, whenever I enter the area right outside the Skingrad West Gate, the game crashes. It doesn't matter how I enter the area, either: Through the gate, crashes. Walking into it from outside, crashes. Fast travel to the stable, crashes. I have a fair bit of mods installed. However, even when I disabled them all, the crash still occurred. Well, maybe there's an issue with my video settings. So I changed the name of my oblivion.ini file, forcing Oblivion to make a new one. Still crashed. I loaded an earlier save, before I was told to meet the Count near the mine, and it DIDN'T crash. What gives? Is there a way to skip this quest or set it as having been completed, or, preferably, fix the crash?

Sometimes these kind of crashes are caused by something that was removed from the cell. The game expects some object to be there and when it tries to find it, it isn't there to be loaded - crash!

 

Sometimes this can be fixed by creating a new save in a safe place and playing from there. Start the game, move to a safe place and make a save. Then exit the game and restart using the new save. Try it.

 

If it still doesn't work, you may have to back up to a save before the problem started.

this has happened to me before too, only with a dark brotherhood quest:

 

the one where you have to fake the death of some guy, then escape out the gate without killing the would-be assassin.

 

 

whenever i run out the gate (either one) my game always crashes within a set period of time. not necessarily the instant i leave, but if i leave, wait, and go back in ill either crash waiting o when i get back in. since theres no cheat for this, it kinda sucks.
