3WINTERS
Maybe this is the best place to ask, but it's worth a shot. I recently cracked it with skyrim and it's constant crashing with my save games always being corrupted. So I decided to do a clean install and deleted absolutely everything. So, now when I put my retail disk in to install the game, I get told it's going to be an install needing space in the order of 8Gb. However, the metre when the install starts is some over 5Gb only and for a while, everything is peachy. That is untill somewhere in the 2Gb installed mark where I'm suddenly told steam has finished installation and despite having auto updates disabled, steam proceeds to start downloading the game from scratch. To the order of 6.8Gb, something I can rarely accept on a 3G prepaid broadband plan. I've encountered the whole, downloading despite a disk issue before, though usually it would disobey my order from the beginning but I was able to set it on the right path... Not any more and it's really doing my head in.
